Looking around, I heard my breathing get heavy. The darkness of the bush had me freaking out, but I knew I had to walk through there if I wanted to get home. And I really wanted to go home.

Breathing in a breath of the cool, tasteless air, I tried to focus on my footsteps instead of what could be lurking in the darkness. Just the thought of the perverted creeps that could be hiding behind the tall trees had sweat beading on my forehead and under my armpits.

Dammit Mia, get a hold of yourself! I could almost hear my brain screaming at me, telling me how stupid I was being.

Taking in yet another breath of air, I took a step forward. And another. And another. With one final step, I had reached the inside of the bush.

As I kept walking, I felt the plants pricking my bare legs, the leaves clinging onto my high socks. I stopped walking when I heard a 'crunch' behind me, peering over my shoulder to see nothing there.

"Okay," I spoke to myself. "Gain control of your paranoia. Don't freak out. It was probably a possum. Or another kind of animal. It was probably a harmless animal." It took a couple of seconds for my brain to kick start again, making my legs move.

Once I started moving, I sped up, worrying at my lip when I heard more leaves rustling behind me. Why on earth would I choose to go stomping through the bush at stupid o'clock?

Pulling out my phone, I decided to check what time it was. When I glanced at the screen, I saw it reflect a person's body image. I stopped walking immediately and watched the screen, looking on as the person got closer. Slowly turning around, I saw a man standing behind me.

I opened my mouth to let out a shriek, but the male covered my mouth with his hand and grinned at me. "Mia," he spoke softly, grabbing at a strand of my hair and smoothing it in between his fingers. "I'm going to remove my hand, but you have to promise not to scream. Can you do that?" I gulped, nodding. The stranger removed his hand and I stood there, stunned. "Good girl," he hummed, petting my head.

Moving away from him, I put one hand to my stomach and kept walking backwards. If worse came to worse, I would have to make a run for it. "How do you know my name?" I asked quietly.

Smiling, the unknown man took a couple steps towards me. "The same way I know that you're seventeen years of age. The exact same way I know you're walking back from your friend's house."

"You stalked me?" I asked, just as quiet. "Why? What makes me so special?"

The guy kept walking to me, backing me up against a nearby tree. "You'll come to understand all about who you are in no time," he muttered, pushing himself against my body. I started to sweat even more. What was he going to do to me? "I also know you're a fighter. Understand that I do this with all due respect."

Do what? What did he plan to do?

I kept a careful eye on this man, ready to attack. He smirked at me, showing his teeth. Only, his once straight, even teeth weren't the same anymore. Two had popped and grown further than the others, the moonlight glinting off of them. "We shall speak soon," he whispered. "Very soon."

Lowering his head, the man pressed his lips to my neck, a sharp pain spreading from the place he had bitten. I started to feel drowsy, my head buzzing. Trying to stand up straight, I felt myself fall into the man's arms. He pulled away from my neck, catching me in his arms.

Opening my mouth, I tried to get words out. Only, nothing would form. "Let go," the man spoke softly, caressing my forehead. "Forget your worries." As though my brain was obeying him, I felt myself lose consciousness. The last thing I remembered was falling and crashing into this male's arms.
