I stepped down from the bed and looked to my side where Kian was still sleeping soundlessly. I slowly made my way toward the balcony and glanced outside. The garden was shrouded in cold mist, with the orange sun slowly peeking through the gray clouds, already showing that it was going to be a cold day.
A sigh escaped my lips, and I suddenly flinched when two arms wrapped around my waist. "Kian..." I whispered, and he hummed near my neck, sending shivers through me.
With a swift motion, he turned me toward him. My hand dropped the shawl that had been covering my arms to the ground. He tightened his hold on me and rested his chin on my neck, pulling me into his embrace.
He remained silent, breathing softly in my arms, and I let him, gently rubbing his back.
A few minutes passed like this, and I felt Kian's body sagging into sleep, though he was trying to stay awake.
"Hubby... you're still sleepy," I whispered softly into his ear. He tightened his grip on me even more, pulling me closer, and turned his head toward my face. I gazed at his messy hair and sleepy eyes, which he was struggling to keep open.
"Kian, sleep," I whispered again, and he let out a whiny sound, making me chuckle unknowingly.
"I would die to have mornings like this with you, Birdy," he suddenly said in his deep morning voice. He still looked so... cute, maybe, but his voice sent those familiar shivers through my body.
Suddenly, he scooped me up into his arms in a bridal hold and carried me to the bed, gently setting me down. He laid his head in my lap, took my hand, and placed it on his hair, silently asking me to caress it. I obeyed without hesitation, slowly untangling his hair with my fingers.
He turned his face toward my stomach and placed a soft kiss there before making himself comfortable, wrapping both his arms around my waist.
We stayed in that position for a very long time, and I didn't even realize when I drifted off to sleep as well.
The next thing I knew, I woke up to find myself pressed against Kian's chest. My body was wrapped in his arms. Realizing the position I was in, I quickly tried to sit up, but suddenly, I heard Kian's voice, his eyes still closed.
"Why, Birdy... the morning view was amazing... That white skin, and that perfect little mole on it... aren't you just perfect for me?" he said, and I froze, biting my lip in embarrassment as my cheeks burned.
I didn't look at Kian, who had now opened his eyes, trying to focus on me despite the position. He sat up quickly, positioning himself right in front of me, and I immediately shut my eyes tightly.
"Why?" he asked in a whiny tone. I bit my bottom lip harder. Then, suddenly, it grew too quiet.
Frowning, I thought Kian had left, so I opened my eyes-and his lips crashed against mine. His mouth opened, taking my lips into his, and my eyes widened in surprise. His eyes bore deep into my soul as his lips devoured mine, his tongue exploring every corner of my mouth. The kiss was so powerful that it pushed me against the bed's headboard as Kian hovered over me.
The intensity of the kiss lasted for more than a minute before Kian abruptly pulled away, winked at me, and headed to the bathroom.
"Did he just tease me?" I muttered to myself, a small smile creeping onto my lips. I stepped off the bed, letting the cold floor meet my feet, and made my way downstairs toward the kitchen.
I slowly prepared coffee for Kian while he freshened up. Once done, he came downstairs wearing a comfortable set of pajamas, and I guessed he wasn't planning on going to the office today.
He stood beside me, watching as I poured coffee into his cup and then into mine. I handed him his cup. He blew on it to cool it down before taking a small sip. I started drinking mine, too, both of us staring at nothing but each other.
After finishing his coffee, he placed the cup in the sink. My coffee was still half-finished when he suddenly spoke.
"We should go on a date, Birdy."
The coffee in my mouth shot out with force, choking me. I coughed loudly, glancing at Kian, who was standing there, looking at me blankly.
I knew I was in trouble now.
But instead of reacting, he walked over to the water tap, poured a glass, and handed it to me. I quickly gulped it down, then hurriedly apologized in a panic.
Kian just kept staring at me silently, saying nothing. Tears welled up in my eyes at his reaction. Everything had been going so well, so why did I have to ruin it? I cursed myself internally, and when the tears were about to spill, Kian moved close, capturing my lips in his once again, coating them with his warmth.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of," he murmured, wiping away my tears with his thumb before bringing it to his mouth.
"When you're with me, Birdy," he finished, and I nodded, placing my coffee cup down and engulfing myself in his arms.
"I thought you'd be mad," I whispered.
"I won't, Birdy. Not anymore," he reassured me with a soft hum.
"So... let's go on that date, Birdy," he said again. I nodded, letting out a quiet "okay." He kissed the top of my head and whispered softly.
"I love you, Crystal," he murmured.
And I hummed in response.
