So as you promise don't forget to vote cuties ....
We stood at the front door of the hospital, our hands entwined.
I didn't know what kind of reaction would come from me, but Kian was staring blankly at the entrance. His steps were slow, his body burning, and his eyes still red.
I followed each of his steps, walking beside him. The guards surrounded us with guns in their hands, as always.
When we reached the corridor, a doctor pointed toward a room. Upon entering, we saw two beds placed together, their faces covered by white cloth. When the doctor pulled the cloth back, Kian immediately turned his head away, not wanting to see it.
In that moment, I saw nothing but pain in his every movement.
He let go of my hand and turned around. I looked at his back and slowly approached him. Placing my hand on his shoulder, he turned to me, his eyes filled with tears.
With a sudden move, he pulled me into a tight embrace. I let him, gently soothing his back. His gaze remained fixed on his parents lying on the beds.
"I'm in pain, Crystal..." he whispered, and those words broke me.
Now we were standing in front of two graves, where Kian's parents were being buried. He kept tossing small petals as he cried, and I stood beside him, holding his arm. It was raining, the sky dark and cold, and I grew more worried about Kian's condition.
I was under the umbrella, but he wasn't. Getting soaked in the cold would only worsen his fever, but he didn't seem to care.
We stayed there for at least two hours. Kian was now on his knees, clutching the gravestone. I took small steps toward him and knelt beside him.
"Don't, you'll get wet," he said, wiping away the tears that mingled with the raindrops on his face.
"Kian..." I whispered. He nodded, signalling he was listening.
"Let's go home," I said, offering him my hand.
He looked at it for a moment before taking it with both of his, softly kissing it. Then, after a brief pause, he whispered, "Let's go..."
We headed toward the mansion, where I had spent my whole life, where I married Kian. In my in-laws' home, which now felt so empty, something felt off.
Kian was shivering from the cold. I could feel his hands turning white, and it terrified me.
I told the driver to hurry, but even with the heater on, it wasn't helping.
I asked to take Kian to the hospital, but he cut me off with a firm "no." He didn't want to go anywhere. Not now.
When we finally arrived, we went straight to his old room. I quickly laid him on the bed, and he groaned in pain, clutching his head.
I removed his shoes, socks, and then began unbuttoning his coat, shirt, pants, and underwear. Turning the heater on full blast, I grabbed a soft towel and gently dried his body.
Once there was no trace of water left, I wrapped him in a black blanket. I quickly changed into one of his shirts and headed to the kitchen to prepare hot soup. I'd already asked the guards to bring some medicine, which they did.
When I returned, I found Kian awake, sitting up and holding his head, frowning with every passing second.
"Are you okay?" I asked. He didn't respond, just looked at me. I placed the tray on the table and sat on the bed in front of him. Touching his forehead, I felt his fever was still high.
I picked up the soup and began feeding him. Kian ate silently. After he finished, he was about to lie down when I shouted:
"First take the medicine, Kian, then you can sleep."
He groaned but took the medicine. Afterward, I put the empty bowl back on the table. When Kian lay down, I covered him with the blanket.
As I adjusted the blanket, my hand near his chest, he grasped it with his warm palm.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Don't go. Sleep here," he replied softly.
I hummed in agreement. "Okay, let me just—"
Before I could finish, his other hand slid under me and lifted me as if I weighed nothing. He laid me down on the blanket, and I slowly removed it from under me, settling into his arms.
He closed his eyes as his hands softly caressed my hair.
"How are you?" I asked gently, placing my palm on his chest.
"Not okay..." he replied quietly.
I hummed and said, "You scared me back there."
"I know, Crystal, but I couldn't hold it. It was just too sudden for me..." he whispered, and I nodded, wrapping my arms around his waist. He pulled me even closer.
"I love you," he said.
And again, I nodded.
