A few hours after Steve and Indiana's moment, Nancy and Jonathan picked the girl up from her house.

The three rode out to the woods where Will's bike was found. Nancy had a gun, Indiana and Jonathan had a bats. Indiana, being a softball player in middle school, had a pretty good arm.

"You never said what I was saying." Nancy breaks the silence while looking to Jonathan. "What?"

"Yesterday. You thought I was saying something and that's why you took my picture." Nancy answers curiously.

"I don't know. I guess... I saw this girl, you know, trying to be someone else. But for that moment... it was like you were alone, or you thought you were. And, you know, you could just be yourself."

"That is such bullshit." Nancy states.

Indiana raises her eyebrows as Jonathan stops walking. "What?" He asks confused.

"I am not trying to be someone else. Just because I'm dating Steve and you don't like him—"

"You know what? Forget it. I just thought it was a good picture." Jonathan pushes past the girl. Indiana follows behind the two invested in their argument.

"He's actually a good guy." Nancy follows trying to catch up to Jonathan.

"Okay." Jonathan didn't sound the least bit convinced. "Yesterday, with the camera... He's not like that at all. He was just being protective." Nancy says.

Indiana pauses realizing she was standing next to the girlfriend of the boy who almost kissed her. Nancy and Jonathan look back at the girl.

She collects herself. "Sorry." She continues her pace as guilt floods her body.

"Yeah, that's one word for it." Jonathan replies to Nancy. "Oh, and I guess what you did was okay?" Nancy asks.

"No, I... I never said that." Jonathan defends. "He had every right to be pissed—"

Indiana feels a headache brewing due to the bickering.

"Okay, all right. Does that mean I have to like him?" Jonathan asks.

"No."

"Listen, don't take it so personally, okay? I don't like most people. He's in the vast majority."

Indiana watches as they stop walking.

"You know, I was actually starting to think that you were okay." Nancy squints her eyes.

"Yeah?" Jonathan asks. "Yeah." She shakes her head.

"Yeah, I was thinking, Jonathan Byers, maybe he's not the pretentious creep everyone says he is."

Indiana raises her eyebrows with a cringe. Low blow Nance.

"Well, I was just starting to think you were okay. I was thinking, Nancy Wheeler, she's not just another suburban girl who thinks she's rebelling by doing exactly what every other suburban girl does... until that phase passes and they marry some boring one-time jock who now works sales, and they live out a perfectly boring little life at the end of a cul-de-sac. Exactly like their parents, who they thought were so depressing, but now, hey, they get it."
