Max ended up sleeping at the Hopper residence. By morning Indiana was driving El and Max to her house. The sky got dark quickly.
"It's gonna start pouring soon." Max spoke looking out of her window.
"We should be at the mall or, like, watching a movie or something." Max added.
"You don't believe me?" El asks with hint of sadness lased in her tone.
"Come on, you think what El explained wasn't weird?" Indiana asks. Max shrugged as Indiana looked at the two girls sitting in her backseat.
"You definitely saw some super weird stuff, totally, but you said Mike has sensed you in there before, right? So maybe it was just like that. Maybe Billy just... sensed you somehow."
"Fair, but explain the screams then." Indiana raises her eyebrows.
"Yeah, I know, but here's the thing. When Billy is alone with a girl, they make, like, really crazy noises."
"Max!"
"They scream?"
"Yeah, but, like... happy screams."
"Happy screams? What is happy screams?"
"It's like... I'm just gonna lend you my mom's Cosmo."
"Maxine!"
Max and Indiana burst into laughter as El looks away confused. "Here." Indiana pulled into their driveway. "His cars not here."
"You guys really want to do this?" Max asks. El and Indiana both nod.
The three girls enter the empty house and walk into Billy's room. It was messy and smelt like a mix of beer and sex.
"Why do I get the feeling we're gonna find all kinds of wrong in here?" Max shuttered. "Cause we probably will." Indiana answered as she looked around for anything odd looking.
She opened Billy's nightstand drawer and revealed two porno magazines. Indiana shut it quickly with a cringe.
The three entered the bathroom where Billy's bathtub was filled ice bags and water. "Max." Indiana whispered. Chills ran down her spine as her mind went to when Joyce said the mind flayer likes it cold.
"No. Ice. It's just ice. Probably for his muscles or something. He works out like a maniac." Max shakes her head. Indiana was still gazing into the ice bath when El tapped her shoulder.
Indiana looked over to what the girls were looking at. There was blood on Billy's cabinet.
El pulls the door open and reveals a bucket. El pulls out a red 'lifeguard' fanny pack and a bloody lifeguard whistle.
