Part 26

Currently you were sitting on the couch in a luxurious living room and guess what...Beomgyu, Star and Haechan were also around the room.

You didn't know before that Star and Haechan are Taeyong's cousins. Heck! Think what...you really don't know anything. You scoffed at yourself. You trusted everyone around you and in the end it turned out that each one of them knew about your past yet chose to keep quiet and watched your miserable state in front of them.

You glanced at three people inside the house with you. Star was impatiently looking at you, the moment you both met eyes, she was going to speak to you but you looked away to her disappointment. She looked so defeated and stressed. It was clearly evident that she was debating with herself whether the step she took was good or bad.

Taeyong patted her back and she pout at him when he smiled in assurance. Haechan was a bit clueless of all the situation in the beginning but soon he realized when he connected all the dots and the conversation between his sister and Taeyong. The young boy looked at you with pity. He could see the desperation of his two familiars for you, they were eager to help you out to know your past again. If the situation exacerbates for you, then also they are prepared to handle the consequences.

"I'm sorry..." you started and kept your gaze on the table in front of you. The picture was staring back at you, the one you had almost forgot about. You forgot a lot of stuffs, this is nothing new that everyday you will be remembering a lot from your past but Taeyong being someone so important and close to you was an unexpected event. "I shouldn't have gone there alone."

"you should be sorry because you know how worried Star and Beomgyu was." Taeyong was quick to scold you and you didn't say anything in return because of course it was you who was at fault. but why to blame you as anyone in your place would have reacted like that. and the way Taeyong approached you was more horrific. you looked up and stared at him.

"what do you mean by me being your step-sister?" you asked him, keeping a straight look but your wavering voice was giving away your exhaustion and fear. 

Taeyong nodded, pulling himslef away from the wall where he was leaning, he approached to you, sitting beside you, all this time you kept your eyes on him. he took the picture in his hold, he caressed both the little girl and the boy's face.

"after this pic...I hope you remember me." he placed the frame back on the table and glanced at you and you nodded quickly. he was the one closest to you in the orphanage. why couldn't you recognized him back then at the meeting. "I missed you so much after that family adopted me. Mr. Lee who is apparently Beomgyu's father's investment partner."

 you stayed silent. letting him to continue further.

"actually, there's a lot happened after that. nothing really related to your situation much but when I heard your name from dad one day, I eavesdropped on their conversation when they were having a meeting at our house. I couldn't understand what was the reason but then later found out that they were trying to eliminate you from their way of success. you were a hindrance but the matter was no one could do anything until you had turned 21 years." 

Beomgyu chimed in, "dad never wanted to remove her. he cared for her even though he knew how she was the reason of his problem."

Taeyong chuckled, "don't trust them so much, Beomgyu. you never know why people act in a way to someone and what's the actual reason they are hiding. our dads have hidden a lot of secrets from us and I would suggest not to have blind faith on them."

he turned to you, "I came up with a plan that if I convince my parents to adopt you then it would be much easier. they had always considered my decisions because how intelligent and intellectual I was. I myself approached dad one day to say this and stated that you being the daughter would help him to get the share on his side. and, I knew how honest, pure and innocent you were. you wouldn't have denied to give those useless share to your dad and as you have always wanted a family, you could have got one."
