Bai Xiying was somewhat surprised; she had expected Lin Xingzhu to pretend not to know her in front of others or simply ignore her—after all, many had done just that moments ago.

Thinking of this, she casually glanced at Mu Muqing beside her, feeling a cold smile brewing inside.

Uninformed outsiders regarded her as an accessory to Mu Muqing, showing interest only to ask a question or ignoring her altogether. But she was personally invited by Mu Muqing to attend the banquet, and her attitude toward these interactions was quite subtle, almost implicitly accepting.

Bai Xiying extended her fair, slender hand to shake with Lin Xingzhu, her lips curving slightly. "Long time no see."

Lin Xingzhu met her gaze and smiled back. "Long time no see."

Since Bai Xiying didn't mind, why should she avoid it?

Mu Muqing's probing gaze fell on the two of them. "Do you two know each other?"

Lin Xingzhu glanced at her, having already recognized that the Mu Muqing before her was the woman she had accidentally bumped into while leaving the bar with Bai Xiying on the night she first entered the story.

However, it was clear that Mu Muqing didn't recognize her, which was normal; after that night, Lin Xingzhu had changed her dressing style and makeup, so a stranger they had only briefly encountered wouldn't pay much attention.

She answered naturally, "Bai... Xiying and I are schoolmates."

Lin Xingzhu succinctly explained, and Mu Muqing surveyed the two, a smile appearing on her face. "I see. Xiying now works with me. She's quite capable, and it's no wonder  University 'A' students are so well-liked."

Lin Xingzhu dismissed the subtle insinuation in Mu Muqing's words that suggested a close relationship with Bai Xiying.

She had already suspected that the two had become closer, but witnessing their interaction now felt somewhat unfamiliar, although Bai Xiying's previous changes were the best evidence.

Recently, Qiao Zijing hadn't had the chance to disturb Bai Xiying, and other characters from the plot hadn't shown up yet. The only person who could interact with Bai Xiying was Mu Muqing, her immediate superior.

Upon hearing this, Bai Xiying stood beside Mu Muqing, showing a hint of shyness.

Such a demeanor was quite rare.

Lin Xingzhu took a sip of champagne and redirected her attention to discussing work with Mu Muqing.

The recent activities of Xingyuan hadn't gone unnoticed by industry insiders; it was natural for Mu Muqing to come to gather information. After all, Xingyuan was backed by the Lin family, a stronghold that provided ample funding. Hurricane Studio, no matter how excellent, still needed money to survive; people always wanted more.

But seeing Mu Muqing engrossed in work while neglecting Bai Xiying made Lin Xingzhu frown slightly.
