"What are you always touching that broken nose for?"

Lin Fu glanced at Lin Xingzhu, who was eating and then started fiddling with her nose again, speaking in annoyance.

How many times has she touched it during this meal? It's not like it's new—why keep touching it?

"Just checking if it's still nice and straight," Lin Xingzhu casually made an excuse.

Lin Fu snorted. "You're still worried about how your nose looks? I asked you to bring Bai Xiying back for dinner, but you came back alone—what's going on?"

It was clear that Lin Fu truly regarded Bai Xiying as a future family member.

After taking a bite of some green bamboo shoots to cleanse her palate, Lin Xingzhu said, "She's busy with work."

Lin Fu gave her a look. "I hope that's true."

Hearing this, Lin Xingzhu raised her eyebrows, and saw Lin Fu had already returned to a neutral expression while sipping the chicken soup on his left.

She suspected Lin Fu might have guessed something.

Lin Fu didn't pursue the topic further, as if his comment had been made casually.

"You've been at Xingyuan for a while now—how's it going?"

Once the serious topic was broached, Lin Xingzhu's demeanor became much more formal.

"I've adapted well, and my work is on the right track now."

Lin Fu looked a bit pleased at this.

Watching his daughter sitting upright and vibrant, with eyes almost identical to her late wife's, he couldn't help but feel a pang of bittersweet nostalgia.

"...Just wait a bit longer, and then you can come work at Tianqi."

Lin Xingzhu froze. "Dad, isn't that a bit early?"

Since arriving in this world and understanding her original family's situation, Lin Xingzhu knew she would eventually take over this burden from Lin Fu.

This was the responsibility of her original self; she had never thought of refusing. But wasn't it too early for Lin Fu to bring it up now?

Lin Fu glared fiercely. "Too early? Your uncles and cousins were already learning to take over the family business while in college. I let you have your fun in university for a few years, and now that you've finally settled down to work, you think it's too early for you to help me? Are you trying to kill me with worry?!"

Lin Xingzhu was bombarded by her father's fierce words.

"Okay, okay, I get it, I understand!" Lin Xingzhu quickly admitted her fault.

"Good to know!" Lin Fu huffed again and then said seriously, "But don't think you can just sit in the office at Tianqi and start giving orders. When you come to the company, you'll have to start from the bottom and learn the ropes first."

To ensure Lin Xingzhu could work properly, Lin Fu had agreed to let her join Xingyuan, indulging her interests. But Tianqi was different; she couldn't expect to just step in and enjoy the perks right away. She needed to thoroughly understand the company's details.
