"Chug! Chug! Chug!" Chants and cheers echoed through the night, coming from the lively garage. Balloons and streamers were everywhere, covering the inside of the building in an explosion of color. That along with the music and happy conversations chattering inside all made this New Year's party one to remember. Especially since the spy racers had two new additions joining their crew for this celebration.
"Mommy, what're they drinking?" Tyler asked Layla as he watched Echo and Cisco chug some liquid, unknown to him, out of red plastic cups.
"Umm, it's juice." She told him, not wanting to explain the concept of alcohol to him quite yet.
"Can I have some?" The young boy asked with wide, excited eyes.
"It's juice for adults." Layla quickly said. "Sorry kiddo."
"Aww." Tyler gave a disappointed pout but that went away in a matter of seconds as he was distracted by Frostee flying a drone over his head. "Can I try?" He asked, already reaching for the remote.
"Sure thing lil T." Frostee said as he handed it to him. "Just be careful with it."
Tyler immediately almost crashed the drone but Frostee was quick to help him turn it away from the oncoming wall. He stayed right by his side the entire time, teaching him how to maneuver it and jumping in whenever the drone was going towards a wall. Or a person.
"This is fun!" Tyler said with a joyful laugh.
"Yeah, you're a natural!" Frostee said, trying to hide the way his face cringed as the drone just barely missed Julius's head.
"Another round?" Echo said to Cisco as they finished their drinks. Cisco was already a little clumsy on his feet, his head getting slightly fuzzy, but nodded away.
"Pour some more!" He said. "One for the little Layla?"
Camille, trying to stay out of the view of her parents, reached for the cup Cisco was holding out but Tony quickly stepped in her way.
"Sorry little missy, but you still need to wait ten years!" He said, crossing his arms. Camille crossed her arms as well, sending her dad a little glare.
"Aww, she's like a little you!" Echo said as she watched the father-daughter duo with a smile. Camille let out a little huff of air as she put her hands on her hips so she was no longer copying him.
"You'll learn to accept it one day, little racer." Layla said as she ruffled Camille's hair then placed a kiss on Tony's cheek. "By the way, watch your head." She advised him.
"Why w-" Before he could finish what he was saying, he quickly had to duck out of the way as a drone came hurtling towards him.
"Sorry!" Tyler called from across the room.
"Aw, kid, you missed!" Miss Nowhere said.
"Don't encourage him!" Layla said as she turned to Miss Nowhere who was whispering some plot to Tyler. Most likely about attacking Tony, or maybe Gary, with the drone.
Layla sent a look to Palindrome who just shrugged, continuing to watch Miss Nowhere with a smile.
"I wanna try!" Camille said as she ran over to Tyler who happily handed her the remote.
"Your kids are adorable." Cisco said, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye.
"Just wait till they try to fly a drone at your head." Tony said, rolling his eyes.
As if on cue, a yell echoed through the room. They all looked over to Gary to see him running away from a drone in hot pursuit of him. Camille giggled as Miss Nowhere gave her a high five.
"Mommy?" Tyler said as he tugged at the corner of his mom's jacket. "How much longer?"
"Just a half an hour until midnight." Layla said as she picked him up. He let out a yawn as he rubbed his eyes. "Think you can hold out that long?"
He nodded. "I'll try."
"If you're tired you can rest in the other room." Tony offered as he held his son's little hand, running his thumb over his tiny fingers.
"No, I wanna stay up with you guys." Tyler insisted. His parents gave each other a look but decided to let him stay up as long as he could last.
Not having ever stayed up this late before, both kids soon began to struggle to keep their eyes open. Camille tried to fight it off by eating as much sugar as she could, but her parents quickly caught on to her scheme and cut off her supply.
Tyler was almost about to fall asleep when sudden chanting woke him up. "Five! Four! Three! Two! One!" Everyone yelled and he joined in at the end. "Happy New Year!"
Camille jumped up and down, cheering. She tried to get Tyler to join but he only had enough energy to wave his hands. "Eww, look!" Camille said as she pointed to their parents kissing. The two kids stuck out their tongues at the gross display of affection.
"What's the matter?" Tony asked his kids as he and Layla pulled out of the kiss.
"Don't worry, we didn't forget about you." Layla said as she and Tony began kissing their children's heads and cheeks and noses. The kids giggled before letting out big yawns.
"Alright, you two. It's way past your bedtime." Tony said as he picked up Tyler.
"But I wanna stay up like uncle Cisco!" Camille said as she rushed over to him.
"Aww," Cisco wanted to side with the child but when he saw Layla's glare he pushed Camille back to her mother. "Sorry little buddy."
She wanted to protest but was interrupted by another yawn. Now she knew she couldn't escape her fate- going to bed- any longer.
"Good night!" The family exchanged goodbyes with their friends as they made their way out of the garage. "Happy New Year!"
