Father's Day Surprise

    It was a bright and sunny Sunday when Tony woke up with a smile. It wasn't just any day, it was Father's Day. Tony had been waiting for a while for this day to come. Every Father's Day, his family did something special for him and he was excited to see what they had come up with this time.
    All week long he had walked in on whispers from his children that immediately went silent as soon as he entered. They were constantly running around and sneaking off to plan something. Even Layla was acting suspicious. They were definitely planning something and he couldn't wait to find out what.
    As he got up, he noticed that Layla was already out of bed. She must be setting things up. He thought. But when he walked out into the living room he found...
Nothing.
The kids were both watching TV while Layla was getting them some cereal. When they noticed him, his kids briefly looked up for no more than a second. "Good morning." they said before quickly turning back to the TV.
"Good morning, honey." Layla said before giving him a kiss. "Want some cereal?"
"Um, sure." he said. Sitting down at the table, he awkwardly ate his cereal. They couldn't have forgotten, could they? Clearing his throat, he said, "Hey, Layla, do you know what day it is?"
"Yeah, it's Sunday." she said. His heart sank. So they did forget.
Tony tried to brush it off and not be too disappointed. It was just Father's Day. It wasn't like they had forgotten his birthday. But still, he was sad he didn't get to see what he thought they were planning.
Maybe they will remember later. Tony thought. I can try to remind them.
The rest of the morning Tony tried dropping little hints as to what day it was. He even got Camille to look at the calendar. But still, no one seemed to realize what day it was. By the afternoon, he decided to just forget about it.
    "Hey, Tony!" Layla called from the backyard at around four o'clock, "Come out here!"
    Shrugging to himself, he got up and went into the backyard.
    "Happy Father's Day!"
Tony took a step back in surprise. Everyone was there. His family, the spy racers, even Miss Nowhere and Palindrome were there with their kids.
    "So you didn't forget." he said happily.
    "Of course not." Layla said as she approached him and gave him a kiss.
    "We surprised you, daddy!" Tyler said as he ran up to him and gave him a hug.
    "Were you surprised?" Camille asked, joining the hug.
    "I sure was." he said, "What a great Father's Day surprise."
    The rest of the afternoon they hung out, the kids playing together while the adults talked and cooked hamburgers. The whole time, Tony couldn't stop smiling. It sure was a great Father's Day.
