"you're my everything."

"How nice of you all to finally join us."

Elena's voice commands the room, breaking the silence. That deep southern accent still seems foreign to Honey. She doesn't think she'll ever get used to it.

Sitting at the head of the dining table, the woman is decked out in jewels. A studded emerald necklace adorns her slim neck, complementing the large emerald earrings that hang low, nearly reaching her shoulders.

John sits on the opposite end of the table, still the head of the table. He sits laidback in his seat, watching his wife silently.

Elias sits next to John on the right side. They're all sitting on the right side. Jessica, her husband, their son and a young girl who looks like she's in her tween years sit on the left side of the table.

Honey doesn't mind her seat, she's not close to Elena or John who both still scare her. The man is intimidating and Elena seems to dislike all of the people seated at the table, including Honey.

Poor Nico's sitting directly next to Elena who's eyeing him with the look of death in her eyes. Nico stares right back at her. A small smile tugs at his lips. If looks could kill surely Elena would've decapitated Nico by now.

"The dinner just started, dear."

John breaks his silence, his eyes are hardened. Meaning he wants no back talk from his wife.

The message is received by the way Elena scoffs before turning her attention away from Nico, placing it on Evie instead.

This is extremely awkward. There's clearly no Thanksgiving spirit flowing through the room. Everyone's so hostile. Honey looks at Evie whose grip on her hand has slackened.

She's still tense, extremely so.

Everyone seems afraid of being the first one to speak. Honey won't do it. She's uncomfortable as is. Almost everyone present absolutely holds some resentment for another person seated at the table.

The two kids on the other hand are unbothered by the situation. They're having small talk between them, tuning out their elders.

Honey wishes she could do that. Well, she wishes she weren't here at all but she can't always get what she wants.

No one says anything when Elena begins to talk about herself. Elena clearly see herself as the most intriguing person to ever live. She's all she can talk about. Her trips, her encounters with other rich women. Honey doesn't see how one person could love talking about themselves so much.
