Chapter 46

Cole POV

The next few days, I sat around at home with Marcus playing video games. I took Onyx outside and took him on walks, as Liv stayed in her room, sleeping. I was able to get her laptop set up to watch movies. She lays down on the bed with her laptop on the floor as she watches the show, or movie.

Liv sleeps most of the day, and is up most of the night, crying.

She feels terrible about detaching her retina, and now everyone is waiting on her hand and foot. She doesn't like that; she is used to doing everything herself and helping other people around her.  Sometimes she needs that break. She does so much for everyone else that it's time for us to give back to her.

Today, I woke up her up at seven. She is giving a Keynote speech at the school for the one program she is in. She hasn't gone to any of the meetings or anything but if she wants to graduate, she has to do this.

The teacher in charge tried to get her out of it once my mom called and told her about Liv's eye, but knowing my wife, she was going to do anything she could to be there. Her biggest thing was that it was her speech. She didn't want anyone else to give her speech but her. She has worked really hard on it, and she has parts of it memorized.

Liv got up with no issues but when I saw her eyes, they looked tired. "Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, why do you ask?" Liv asked.

"You just look tired," I said.

"I'm more annoyed than anything," Liv said.

"The situation?" I asked as I went into my closet to get dressed.

"Yes," Liv said.

My mom came in a few minutes later to help Liv get dressed, and to do her hair. We started giving her baths and last night we allowed her to take a shower. My mom and I stayed outside the bathroom as she took her shower just in case she would need help.

Once we were ready to go, I led her to my car as we got into the car. I drove over to the school with Marcus as Liv played with her fingers.

"You got this babe," I said.

"Babe?" Liv asked.

"Or Liv, I'm sorry," I said.

"Oh," Liv said disappointed.

I didn't mean to call her babe, it just slipped out. I need to make her my girlfriend again, but I promised myself I wasn't going to until she got cleared with her left eye. One major part of our lives at a time.

We made it to the school. I parked my car as Marcus got out from the backseat.

"You meant to do that didn't you?" Marcus asked.

"It just slipped out," I said.

"Sure," Marcus said rolling his eyes. He opened the passenger door and helped Liv out of the car. We walked inside as Liv had to go upstairs to meet with the woman. Marcus and I helped her up the stairs as she went towards the room.

When we walked in with her the classmates were clapping for her. We sat her down in one of the chairs before they had her go downstairs in the auditorium to practice her speech. This time instead of making her walk down the stairs, they allowed her to go in the elevator.

Marcus and I gave her some space to be with the people in the class with her. We went downstairs as we saw my parents and Kylee. My mom handed me the flowers I had gotten Liv last night as I smiled.

"Thank you," I said taking the flowers from her.

"Isn't tomorrow your five-year anniversary?" Marcus asked. I nodded my head.
