I stepped out of the hotel, into the crisp evening air, my mind reeling. Lexi's questions had unsettled me. How much longer could I keep my secrets hidden?
As I walked, my phone buzzed. Lucy's name flashed on the screen.
"Julian, darling," her voice dripped with malice. "I've sent you an email. Read it carefully."
My heart sank. What new demand would she make?
I opened the email, my eyes scanning the contents:
"Meet me at the old warehouse at midnight. Come alone."
A chill ran down my spine. What did Lucy plan?
I couldn't risk Lexi discovering my secret. I had to protect her.
As I approached my car, a figure emerged from the shadows.
"Julian Blackwood," a low voice said. "We need to talk."
My instincts screamed warning.
"Who are you?" I demanded.
The figure stepped forward, revealing a woman with piercing green eyes.
"I'm someone who knows your secrets," she said, her smile sinister. "And I'm here to make you an offer you can't refuse."
