LEXI

I sat at my desk, researching Julian's past, searching for any hint of the "situation" he'd mentioned. My journalistic instincts screamed that there was more to the story.

A knock on the door broke my concentration. It was my colleague, Rachel.

"Lexi, I dug up some info on Julian Blackwood," Rachel said, handing me a folder.

I opened it, scanning the contents. Articles, interviews, and book reviews. Nothing out of the ordinary.

"Keep digging," I urged. "There's something he's hiding."

Rachel nodded. "I'll see what I can find."

As she left, my phone buzzed. A text from Julian.

"Meet me at McGillicuddy's Bar at 7. I want to spend time with you."

My heart skipped a beat. I couldn't deny the attraction.

At McGillicuddy's, Julian waited at the bar, sipping whiskey. His eyes locked onto mine, and I felt a flutter.

"Lexi," he said, his voice low and smooth. "You look stunning."

We ordered drinks and settled into a cozy booth. Julian's words wove a spell around me - charming, witty, and seductive.

As the night wore on, I felt myself getting lost in his eyes. But amidst the romance, I sensed a hidden agenda.

What secrets was Julian hiding?

And why?
