JULIAN

I walked into the house, expecting a peaceful evening with Sarah. Instead, I was met with a hailstorm of suspicion. Her eyes narrowed as she held up her phone, the screen glowing with an ominous message.

"Who's this?" she asked, her voice laced with a subtle accusation. My heart sank. I knew exactly who it was. Lucy. My ex-mistress. Blackmailer. Stalker. She'd been threatening to reveal my secrets unless I ended things with Lexi.

"Unknown number," I replied, feigning indifference, trying to downplay the situation. But Sarah's gaze lingered, doubt etched on her face. "But the text says...," her voice trailed off, her eyes scanning the message. My mind racing, I snatched the phone from her hand, deleting the message before she could read more.

"It's just spam," I lied, forcing a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about it." Sarah's expression remained skeptical, but she let it slide. For now.

The truth was far more complicated. Lucy had been blackmailing me for months, threatening to expose my affair with Lexi to Sarah, to the world. I couldn't let that happen. Not now. Not when Lexi was the only one who truly understood me. Our connection was real, authentic. And I couldn't sacrifice that for anything.

"Sarah, trust me," I reassured, pulling her close, trying to alleviate her doubts. "I'm just stressed with work. That's all." She nodded, her eyes searching mine, seeking reassurance. But I knew I was living on borrowed time. Lucy wouldn't stop until she destroyed me. And everyone I loved.

As we settled into the evening routine, my mind wandered to Lexi. Our next meeting. Our next moment together. Lucy's threats hung over me like a guillotine, ready to drop at any moment. I had to find a way to silence her. Permanently.
