JULIAN

As the days passed, Atticus and Aurora grew accustomed to Lexi's presence. They'd giggle at her silly faces and snuggle into her warmth.

Sarah and I coordinated parenting efforts, finding a rhythm.

"Julian, can I talk to you?" Sarah asked one evening.

"Of course," I replied.

"I think the twins are adjusting well to Lexi," Sarah said. "But I want to make sure we're on the same page."

"I agree," I said. "We need to prioritize their well-being."

Lexi joined us, and we discussed boundaries, routines, and shared goals.

As we worked together, our dynamic shifted. Sarah and I became effective co-parents.

One afternoon, Lexi took the twins to the park. I watched from afar, heart swelling.

"Sarah, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked, my voice filled with emotion.

"Sure," she replied.

"Sarah, I'm sorry. For everything. I was wrong to cheat, and I hurt you deeply. I'll always regret that."

Sarah's expression softened.

"Julian, I appreciate your apology."

"I mean it," I continued. "You deserve happiness, Sarah. You deserve someone who loves and respects you completely. I hope you find that."

Sarah's eyes welled up.

"Thank you, Julian. That means a lot coming from you."

I nodded.

"We may not be together, but I'll always care about your well-being."

Sarah smiled faintly.

"I know. And I'll always care about yours, too."
