JULIAN

I woke up to Sarah's gentle touch, her soft voice whispering "good morning" as she handed me a steaming cup of coffee. The warmth of the bed and the comfort of our routine couldn't shake off the lingering guilt from last night's lies. The weight of my deception settled heavy on my shoulders, making it hard to meet Sarah's gaze.

As we went through our morning ritual, my mind wandered to Lexi. Her smile, her touch, and the way she made me feel alive. The memories of our night together flooded my thoughts, and I struggled to keep my composure. Sarah noticed nothing, lost in her own world, but I knew I couldn't keep this up for long.

"My agent wants to meet today," I said, trying to sound casual.

"About your book?" Sarah asked.

"Yes, the new manuscript."

Sarah nodded, her eyes sparkling with interest.

"I have a luncheon today. Want to join me?"

I declined, citing work, and we parted ways, each lost in our own world.

My phone buzzed, breaking the silence.

Lexi's text.

"Last night was incredible."

My heart skipped.

I deleted the message, feeling like I was hiding the truth from everyone, including myself.
