LEXI

I stood frozen, my eyes locked on Julian and the woman beside him. Sarah. His sister, I had thought. But now, I knew the truth. His wife. The room spun, my vision blurring. How could he? The pain sliced through me, a jagged edge. I felt like I'd been punched in the gut.

As I struggled to process this revelation, Julian's eyes met mine, a flicker of guilt. But I saw something else, too. A spark of desire. A glimmer of longing. My heart clung to that spark. I couldn't let go. Not now. Not when I'd finally found him. Sarah's laughter echoed, a cruel contrast to my turmoil. Julian's hand rested on her arm, a possessive gesture. I felt a surge of jealousy, but I refused to back down.

I made my way through the crowd, my heels clicking. "Lexi, darling!" Mark Davis called out, but I brushed past him. I had one goal: Julian. As I approached, Sarah's eyes narrowed. "Lexi, lovely to meet you," she said, her voice dripping with condescension. Julian's gaze pleaded for understanding, but I couldn't look at him. Not yet. "Enchanted," I replied, my tone icy. The conversation flowed around us, a meaningless hum.

I waited for an opening, a chance to reclaim Julian's attention. To make him mine. "Excuse me," I said, my voice low. "Julian, may I steal you for a moment?" Sarah's eyes flashed with annoyance, but Julian nodded, his eyes locked on mine. "Yes, of course." As we stepped aside, the tension between us crackled. "Lexi, I-" he began.

"Don't," I interrupted, my voice barely above a whisper. "Don't explain. Don't apologize. Just tell me one thing." His eyes searched mine, filled with a mix of longing and trepidation. "What?" he asked, his voice rough. My heart skipped a beat. "Do you want me?" The pause hung like a challenge, heavy with implications.

"Yes," he whispered, his voice rough, sending shivers down my spine. My heart soared. I'd do whatever it took. Whatever the cost. To keep him. To make him mine. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't help myself. I was addicted to Julian, to the way he made me feel.
