LEXI

As we left the courtroom, Julian's tension dissipated, replaced by relief. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me close.

"We did it," he whispered.

I smiled, feeling a weight lift off our shoulders.

The days following the verdict were a blur. Julian's children adjusted to the new custody arrangement, and Julian's business began to stabilize.

Sarah, however, remained a concern.

Her anger and resentment simmered, occasionally boiling over into heated phone calls or tense encounters.

But Julian stood firm, prioritizing his children's well-being.

One evening, as we sat on the couch, Julian's children played quietly in the next room.

"Lexi, I'm grateful for you," Julian said, his eyes locked on mine.

I smiled.

"I'm grateful too," I replied. "For us, for our future."

Julian's lips brushed mine, a soft kiss.

"We'll face whatever comes next, together."

Just then, Julian's phone rang.

He hesitated before answering.

"Hello?"

His expression changed, concern etched on his face.

"What is it?" I asked.

"It's Mark," Julian said. "Sarah's appealing the verdict."

My heart sank.

The battle wasn't over.
