What is love?
You don't know
let me start by telling you what it's not
Love is not the same
as being someone's punching bag,
the object they throw their rage and insecurities,
love doesn't equal you being
an emotional safety net,
love is not taking everything they say
just for the sake of love.
Love is not you suffering in silence
while their negative energy consumes you
love is not you questioning,
"do you really love me"?
"Is this what love is supposed to feel like"?
Love is not you being disrespected
and sex is most definitely not love
love is understanding, patient,
and kind,
love does not boast,
and neither is it self-seeking,
love does not hurt,
love should be easy and free
love is fearless and brave
love is fighting for what you believe in
love is growing together,
and if you grow apart, wasn't love
love is not one hurting and the other thriving
That is literally parasitic,
love is seeing a problem
and working it out,
if this problem continues to arise
then -bombastic side eye-
that's not love,
love is open to change
but not forgetting who you are.
love stares life in the face
love says hold me
Love is warmth, comfort,
and peace of mind,
love is without worry, you feel like you can fly
like warm sunshine brushing your skin,
cool waters on a hot day,
and a single white rose among the reds,
That is love.
I wish that love for you all
for you to know that youre seen
that you deserve everything good that comes your way
