Eyes flutter open

After resting through the night

Under a tree

On the mossy soft ground

She found it with much glee

But she is alone you see

She's been alone for a while

And often she thinks maybe

It was meant to be this way

She is but a child.

Birds have their pairs,

And bears and dears,

All have a family

All have someone who cares.

She walked through this forest

All day and night

She is sometimes distracted

by its blinding beauty and light

Sometimes she believes herself ok,

With it just being her

With her own presence

And every so often

She is passed by lovers bliss

And is reminded

on the existence such as this,

of her being alone

Only her footsteps are left in stone.

One evening while lying alone,

In a small nook surrounded by trees

She had made her home

A faun came up or just appeared

Exceptionally beautiful

So quiet to approach

In awe of her beauty

She stepped so gently

as if she were walking on air

Then, she rubbed her face against mine

And I was instantly comforted

So much so I began to cry

And we stayed there

Just the two of us

And was lonely no more.

And as the days went by

They became closer and friends

Ran through fields

Through the river and the pines

The girl knew,

" If I look behind, her hoof prints would be next to mine"

She could rest easy at night

For she was no longer alone

She was now warm at night

She suffered no longer in the cold

Then her eyes opened

She wasn't there

She thought it a dream

The girl searched and searched

running through the trees

Panting, crying, begging it to be real,

"This can't be happening to me"

Tears stain her face

She gives up her search

But at last, she sees

A sigh of relief escaped her lips

"I'm so happy I wasn't dreaming about this"

But you weren't alone at a closer look

You laid at the lap of some man holding a book

She felt my heart stop

For a moment she couldn't breathe

She was her only comfort

And that man is a thief

How could you do this

Her only friend, her companion

The one that helped her grow.

But she quickly found peace with herself

And walk away without you having to know

The girl cried many nights

Her face wet with tears

and her throat, sore

From screaming out her pain

She was alone again

just like before.
