Vernon woke up to the emptiness on his side of the bed, a slight panic creeping in. He glanced around, noticing the bathroom light peeking from under the door. "Seungkwan?" he knocked gently, but there was no answer. His heart raced as he pushed the door open.
Inside, he found Seungkwan hunched over the toilet, heaving. "Hey! Baby, what's wrong?" Vernon rushed to his side, kneeling beside him.
Seungkwan looked up, pale and shaky. "I... I don't know," he whispered, clutching his stomach.
"Let me help you." Vernon rubbed his back gently until Seungkwan's breaths steadied. Exhausted, Seungkwan leaned against him, eyes drooping. "I'm so tired," he murmured.
"Come on, let's get you back to bed," Vernon said softly, lifting him effortlessly. "You need rest."
Seungkwan snuggled into Vernon's arms, a small smile breaking through his weariness. "You always know how to take care of me," he murmured.
"Of course. That's what I'm here for," Vernon replied, carrying him back to their cozy bed. "Just focus on feeling better."
As Vernon gently laid Seungkwan on their bed, he noticed Seungkwan's hands reaching out, seeking the comfort of his embrace. Without hesitation, Vernon wrapped his arms around him, feeling the warmth radiating from his body. They settled into a peaceful cuddle, and soon both drifted off to sleep.
Morning light streamed in, and Vernon stirred to the sensation of Seungkwan's arm smacking him in the face. Instead of annoyance, he chuckled, admiring his boyfriend's adorably messy hair and peaceful expression. "Cute troublemaker," he murmured.
However, as he watched, Vernon noticed that Seungkwan appeared paler and was sweating. Concerned, he gently placed a hand on his forehead and found it still warm. "Seungkwan, baby, wake up," he whispered, anxiety creeping into his voice.
"Seungkwan, baby, wake up," Vernon whispered again, shaking him gently.
Seungkwan stirred, blinking slowly as he groaned. "Ugh, why does my head feel like a drum?" he mumbled, trying to sit up.
"Easy there," Vernon said, helping him adjust. "You've still got a fever. How are you feeling?"
Seungkwan rubbed his eyes and looked at Vernon, worry etched on his face. "Not great. I thought I'd feel better by morning."
Vernon brushed a damp strand of hair from Seungkwan's forehead. "Let's get you some water and maybe some medicine, okay? You need to take care of yourself."
Seungkwan nodded, his voice weak. "I'm sorry for being such a burden."
"Don't say that," Vernon replied firmly. "You're not a burden. I want to take care of you. Just relax."
As Vernon got up to fetch some water, Seungkwan leaned back against the pillows, closing his eyes again. "You always know what to say," he murmured, a faint smile returning to his lips.
"That's my job," Vernon said with a grin as he returned with a glass of water and a few tablets. "Here, drink this. You'll feel better soon."
Seungkwan took the medicine, wincing slightly but grateful. "Thanks, babe. You really are my lifesaver."
"Always," Vernon replied, settling back beside him. He wrapped an arm around Seungkwan again, pulling him close. "Now just rest. I'll be right here."
As the hours passed, Seungkwan's condition worsened. The fever took hold, leaving him restless and emotional. Vernon stayed by his side, softly murmuring reassurances, but Seungkwan was lost in a haze of fever dreams.
"Vernon...," Seungkwan mumbled, his voice thick with confusion. "Where are you?"
"I'm right here, baby," Vernon replied gently, brushing his fingers through Seungkwan's hair. "I'm not going anywhere."
