After they finished the photo session, they all headed out to a nearby restaurant for their monthly dinner. The cool air outside was a relief from the stuffy warmth inside the store, but Jeonghan could still feel the fever lingering beneath his skin. His body begged for him to rest, but he smiled through the discomfort as they made their way to the restaurant.
The meal was a celebration of their hard work, a moment to relax before they returned home. Jeonghan sat with them, quietly picking at his food, his mind fogged by the illness. Every bite tasted bland, but he forced himself to eat, not wanting to be noticed. His throat burned slightly, but he tried to ignore it. The last thing he wanted was for anyone to notice he wasn't feeling well.
"Hyung, you okay?" asked Vernon, his voice full of concern as he looked over at Jeonghan, who had barely touched his food. "You're not eating much today."
Jeonghan quickly put a smile on his face and nodded, trying to hide the exhaustion creeping up on him. "I'm fine. Just tired from the performance last night."
"Ah, that makes sense," DK said, nodding, his eyes glinting with mischief. "We worked so hard yesterday. We should be able to relax tonight. But hyung, don't overdo it!"
Jeonghan smiled, thankful that DK hadn't pushed further, but internally, he was struggling. His body felt weak, and each movement took more energy than the last. But he didn't want to ruin the night for the others. They were celebrating, and he couldn't bring down the mood.
He sipped his water, his hands trembling just slightly, but nobody seemed to notice. He kept his head down as much as he could, not wanting anyone to see how hard he was fighting to stay upright, to appear normal.
Despite his sickness, Jeonghan stayed quiet, trying to keep up with the conversations, laughing along with the group's jokes, but his mind was elsewhere. He was lost in his own thoughts, trying not to let the dizziness consume him. The restaurant seemed to spin, the noise of chatter growing distant as he focused on simply breathing, on just surviving through the night.
He kept telling himself it was just a little longer. He would rest after this. Just a little longer.
Jeonghan's nausea hit him like a wave, sudden and overwhelming. His stomach churned uncomfortably, and his head spun with every passing second. He could feel the cold sweat gathering on his forehead again, the dizziness blurring his vision. He tried to ignore it, tried to push through, but his body was betraying him.
"Excuse me," Jeonghan mumbled softly, not wanting to alarm anyone. He gave a weak smile, hoping to cover up the unease that had settled in his chest. "I just need to use the bathroom for a second."
He didn't wait for anyone to respond, his feet feeling like they were made of lead as he stood up. His legs wobbled beneath him, but he forced himself to walk toward the bathroom. Every step was an effort, and his breath became shallow, his body protesting with each movement.
The bathroom was quiet, and once the door clicked shut behind him, Jeonghan leaned against the sink, breathing heavily. His reflection in the mirror showed a face pale and drawn, his eyes bloodshot from exhaustion. His lips were dry, and the sweat on his brow only made the pain worse. He could feel the fever rising again, his body heating up as the nausea intensified.
Just a few more minutes. Get it together, Jeonghan. You can't let them see you like this. He clenched his fists, bracing himself against the counter. But it was too much. His stomach lurched, and before he could even react, he felt it-his body rejecting the food he had just eaten.
He barely made it to the toilet before he started vomiting violently. His stomach heaved as he expelled everything from his system, the food from earlier coming up in painful, uncontrollable waves. He coughed violently, each cough tearing at his already strained throat, his body trembling with weakness. His vision blurred as the coughing fit intensified, and his head pounded harder with each breath.
