I would have given you anything and you knew it, so you took and took...... and I just don't understand takers like you; what do you do with all the hearts you've collected when you don't even know what to do with your own?
"Good morning, squad" I called walking up from behind my team with Sloane next to me excited to see the look on Raleigh's face.
"Boxsee?" Raleigh questioned in shock making me try not to laugh at the look on his face because it was exactly what I was hoping for.
"Lance Corporal Raleigh, nice to see you again and it's Gunnery Sergeant Myers to you. For the rest of you, you can call me CJ, I am the unit leader," I spoke calmly trying not to smirk, "we are a part of the USSOCOM and the seven of us will be working closely with other branches squads. However, before then we must go through a rigorous month of training before we can be shipped out. Any questions?"
"Shouldn't you be a first or second lieutenant or even a Captain?" Brand asked looking at me in confusion knowing the way teams usually were run.
"That is correct Brand; however, General La Salle and the heads above him felt with my... qualifications I'd make a good leader for a squad of my choosing, hence why I am in charge now and not later in my career" I answered honestly.
"What kind of qualifications?" Sonic asked skeptically which I appreciated because it meant they wanted me to earn their trust.
"Boxsee here is one of the best marksmen there is. She also has unique hand to hand combat training along with being the second in command of a security crew" Raleigh answered smirking at his knowledge of my background, but he didn't know it in its full extent.
"What kind of leadership skills do you have that qualifies you for this position?" Spike asked stepping forward making me smile that they were all thinking the same way because they didn't know me.
"Captain of the basketball, volleyball, and coed soccer team, student body president, president of the national honors society, I'm the manager of a successful tattoo shop, I lead praise and worship at my father's church, and am in charge of the youth group at the same church. Any further questions on whether or not I am qualified for my position?" I replied with a smirk seeing that they were beginning to trust me.
"Not a question about your qualifications, but is true that you performed with your boyfriend and his band last week in San Diego?" Hershey asked with a girly smile that told me she was a fan of my boys.
"Yeah I did, Sloane was actually there" I smiled causing them all to smile as well liking how honest I was with them.
"It was pretty cool. I thought he was going to propose when he called her on stage" Sloane laughed causing me to laugh as well, knowing that we weren't quite at the marriage stage of our relationship yet.
"So, what's the first thing we're doing today?" Spike asked showing acceptance for my leadership which took a bit of weight off of my shoulders.
"PT for the next week" I smirked as everyone groaned knowing how much we all loved it during bootcamp.
"Let's go!" Sloane called as her and I started jogging towards the obstacle course making me smile because I had gotten her as addicted to working out as I was.
We could hear the pounding of footsteps behind us and I knew they had accepted my command. Sloane glanced at me from the corner of her eye and she smiled understanding the same thing I did.
