Chapter 17
As my levitation strained under the damage I was taking, I vaguely heard Ash ordering Pikachu to take down the bats. My chest recoiled in pain as the poison spread throughout my body.
"You okay Michael?" asked Ash.
"I-I don't know," I replied. I was starting to feel dizzy.
Ash gave me a concerned look. "Can you hold up just a bit longer?"
I nodded and forced myself to ignore the pain.
"Use Hyper Beam!" Hunter J's Salamance roared as it shot a powerful beam of light directly at me.
I looked around. Pikachu was too busy taking down the Golbat to launch a counterattack. I noticed Ash reaching for his Pokeballs, but at the rate the attack was going, he would never get Latios or Latias out in time.
The attack came to me before I even noticed it and a powerful beam of psychic energy shot out of my mouth. Unlike when I battled Pikachu, however, I felt more in control of my attack. My Luster Purge collided with Salamance's Hyper Beam and both attacks were held at a standstill for a few moments. To my surprise, my attack not only held up to the powerful Hyper Beam but was also moving very slowly towards Salamance. Seeing this, my confidence grew and I poured more power into the Luster Purge until it finally hit Salamance, sending the dragon flying backward.
"That was great Michael!" praised Ash, "Pikachu, finish it off with Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu hit the last Golbat with an Iron Tail and then fired a massive bolt of lightning at Salamance. Hunter J ordered Salamance to dodge, but it was too weak from taking my attack. Thunderbolt scored a direct hit and Salamance fell to the ground with a thud.
Hunter J reached for one of her Pokeballs but her hands froze halfway to them. I turned to see Latios and Latias by my side, both using Psychic. Ash nodded for me to go down and I flew over to Hunter J.
"Give up now?" asked Ash.
Hunter J grunted.
"You're part of Team Galactic aren't you?" said Ash.
"I'm not," replied Hunter J coldly.
"But you know about them?"
"Why should I tell you?"
"If you tell me, I'll consider not calling the police," replied Ash.
"Fine, Team Galactic asked me to capture a Latios and a Latias that's all I know,"
"Why would they want us?" asked Latias.
"And how would they even know we were here?" wondered Latios.
I was thinking the same thing, other than the emergency broadcast, there was nothing to suggest anything about a Latios, much less a Latias. But even if Team Galactic had seen the broadcast, how would they know I was alive, much less here?
"I say we hand her over to the police," said Pikachu, "from the looks of it, I'd say she's a Pokemon hunter,"
"Yeah, probably," said Ash, as he pulled out his Pokedex.
"Wait," Hunter J interrupted, "if you let me go I'll tell you where their base is,"
Ash paused. "Alright, we're listening,"
"I don't know exactly where their base is, but it's somewhere near Mt. Coronet. That's where I was supposed to drop off Latios and Latias," said Hunter J.
Ash put his Pokedex away. "Latias, Latios, Michael? What do you think?"
"She's telling the truth," said Latias, "or at least, I couldn't sense any lies coming from her,"
