Epilogue

Chapter 29

As I looked in the mirror, I smiled, kinda excited. I had a green and white feathered head, a bit messy, and two horns sticking out of my head. Further looking I saw my eyes, my stirred red eyes that were pretty normal for a Latios. I wasn't the best-looking, but I was far from the average person. Sure, I never had a girlfriend, let stand a kiss, but right now, it didn't matter that much.

My thoughts changed as I thought about the friends I had. 'No way I could live without them,' I thought. It was true, I couldn't. Before meeting them, I never opened myself up to anyone, but now I saw that doing so was just a facade to cover my true self.

A voice came up. "Hey Michael, are you almost ready? We have to leave soon if we want to get to Altomare in time!" I heard Ash calling me.

"I'll be there in a second, don't worry!" I quickly smoothed out and brushed some dirt off my feathers. In no time, I was out of the bathroom, looking at my friends.

"Alright, let's get going!" Pikachu hopped on Ash's shoulder.

I followed Ash downstairs since we couldn't fly from inside of the Pokemon Center. Latios gave me a nod and a smile to say good morning, and Latias playfully nuzzled me.

"Morning Michael!" she chirped, before going over to Ash.

I smiled. "Good morning,"

Ash thanked Nurse Joy as we passed through the lobby and headed outside. After finding a relatively private alleyway, I turned visible and lowered myself so Ash could climb on.

Once we were in the air, I closed my eyes and felt the breeze on my face. After a moment of enjoying the rushing air, I opened my eyes again to make sure I didn't get too far away from Latios and Latias. I smiled. It always felt great to fly, even though I did it a lot. Being so near the clouds and getting a breathtaking view of the towns and forests below was one of the greatest parts about being a Latios, even if I did look like an oddly shaped jet plane.

And that's who I was. I was free to go or do anything I wanted to. I had always thought people would look at me in disgust or fear and hoped I would meet someone like me. Someone I could talk to and who could help me control my powers. And yet, even back then somehow I just felt... right.

Now I knew I was meant to be like this, Arceus himself may have not granted me these powers, but he did allow me a great future and destiny. More than that, I had all I had ever hoped for in Ash, Pikachu, Latios, Latias, and my family. Excitement welled in me as I thought about it. 'I hope I can just live like this forever,' I thought. In my contentment, I almost did a flip in the air. With a jerk, I reminded myself that I had a passenger.

"Woah," Ash tightened his grip on my neck. "be careful Michael,"

"Sorry, I got lost in thought," I apologized.

"Thinking about our adventure?" asked Ash.

"Kinda," I flew slightly to the left so I wouldn't lose Latios and Latias. "it's amazing how far we've come,"

"Don't relax just yet," warned Pikachu, "just wait, we'll be involved in another world-saving mission by next month!"

"Pikachu!"

"What? It's true,"

"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused.

"Let's just say that you're far from the first legendary Ash has met," said Pikachu.

Ash sighed. "Pikachu's exaggerating. We usually have to save the world every 3 months, not every month,"

"Same thing," Pikachu rolled his eyes.

"Is not!" Ash retorted.

I held back a laugh as Ash and Pikachu continued to argue and wondered how much of it was true. I decided that even if we had to save the world every week, it would be worth it just to spend time with my friends.

I took in everything one more time; the wispy white clouds in the sky, the Meowth balloon in the distance, the cities and towns below me, and, most of all, my friends beside me.
