Song: Seize the Day Reprise (1992 Version)

A/N: Hey everybody. "Never fear" the next chapter of 8 Days, 8 Letters "is here." Enjoy!

Present Day: July 1899

Jaime's POV

I woke up at sunrise with Spot's arms still around me. I looked up at him, trying to ignore the warmth in my cheeks. He looked so peaceful when he was sleeping. I just wanted to lay here all day, but I knew that I had to get back to my newsies. They need me. Also I wanna make it back to the lodge house before they wake up, so I can avoid questioning.

"Spot," I said.

"Yeah," he mumbled.

"We gotta get up."

"No," he mumbled in my hair. "Stay here."

"I gotta get back before they wake up. Got another day of striking ahead of us."

"Can't they do it by themselves," he whined.

"As much as I love them, they're a little dumb," I laughed, getting up.

He got up and followed me, holding the door open for me.

We tiptoed passed the sleeping Brookies and crept down the stairs.

He opened to door that led outside for me and leaned on it.

"We should do this again sometime, Princess," he smirked.

I rolled my eyes and smiled at him.

"Good day Spot. If ya wanna see more of me, we're striking at 'The World' distribution center in 'Hatten. You could join us since we're serious and all."

"Maybe I'll see ya there Princess," he laughed.

"Maybe," I smiled.

I turned to walk towards 'Hatten. If I walk quickly I should be able to make it back before they wake up.

Time skip: 2 hours later

Thankfully I had made it back before any of them woke up. Unfortunately my mission was more successful than Jack's. He told me about how Crutchy didn't want to leave because his leg was hurting. Although he also told me it might be because he didn't want to the younger boys to face the repercussions of him leaving, which I believe more than the leg thing. It sounds more like Crutchy to want to protect the "underdogs" and use his leg as an excuse to soften the blow on us.

We stood outside the distribution center in lines as the newsies waited for my cue.

Newsies: Open the gates and seize the day
Don't be afraid and don't delay
Nothing can break us
No one can make us
Give our rights away
Arise and seize the day

The younger boys, including Les, marched forward and played their tin drums.

The newsies and I jumped forward with our arms crossed. We hit our fists in the air and jumped around.

I chest bumped Race before turning towards Mush. We interlocked arms and spun in the air. We crouched down and I interlocked arms with Race and Mush as we waited for the bell to sound.

The carriage came out of the gate, forcing us to split apart to avoid being run over.

The scabbers came out and we blocked them from leaving.

"Alright you grafters crossed da line," Race said.

The newsies began to get worked up.

"All right everyone, remain calm," Davey said.
