Song: The World Will Know (1992 version)

A/N: Hey everyone. I hope you've all had a wonderful past few weeks and if not I hope this week is better. Sorry this is so late, I have been so busy that I completely forgot to post. I will try to be more on time and maybe sprinkle in an extra chapter or two occasionally. Also i did try the song layout from Anyway the Wind Blows again. I think this may be the new song layout, so just be aware. Anyways have a lovely week and enjoy the next chapter of 8 Days, 8 Letters.

Present Day: July 1899

Jaime's POV

We woke up to the sound of Kloppman's footsteps.

"Why are you guys sleeping in the hallway instead of your beds," he asked.

"Ask the lovebirds in our room why we're out here sleeping instead of in our beds," I said.

"I'll ask them when they get back," he said, heading over to his desk.

"They already left," I asked.

"They left 15 minutes ago," he said.

"What time is it," I asked, concerned.

"7:18," he said.

Shoot. We slept in. We have less than 45 to get ready and get to the distribution center.

"Alright newsies," I called out. "Wake up call. We got 30 minutes to get ready.

After a multitude of groans and complaints, one by one they stood up and headed up the stairs. I followed after them to make sure everyone was awake. Jack opened the door to ensure we didn't walk in on anything. After I get dressed I'm going to kill them both.

"They're not in here," he said.

We headed to our beds to grab our clothes and head into the bathroom. I grabbed the clothes hanging off the side of my bed and ran into the bathroom to grab a stall.

I threw on a green collared shirt Jack gave me, a brown plaid vest, brown pants, "white" socks, and my work boots. I came outside to the sink and started brushing my hair. It felt warm in the hallway, so I put my hair in two braids to combat the heat. I did the rest of my morning routine, put on my hat, and headed out the door to make sure the others didn't get into any trouble. Race, Skittery, Crutchy, Tumblr, and a few others were already down there.

I nervously started playing with my fingers when I saw we only had 10 minutes until we had to leave.

Most of the newsies had come down. Now we were just waiting on Jack. I looked at the clock. 4 minutes left.

I broke out of my thoughts when I heard a voice. "Books. Are you alright?"

I turned around to see Skittery.

"Yes. I'm alright. Just hoping he make it down in time," I replied.

"I'm sure he will," he reassured. "Let's just go and have him catch up."

"You guys go," I said. "I'll wait here for him. Ya know make sure he doesn't cause any trouble on the way."

"Are you's sure," Race asked.

"Yes, I'm sure," I replied. "Start walking and Jack and I will catch up. Skittery and Crutchy are in charge."

"I'm insulted," Race scoffed.

"Don't worry Race, I'd have a special job for you's," I said.

"That is," he smiled.

"Give Blink and Mush a good shina," I laughed.
