Pamela was destined for a life on the streets,
Her rich parents couldn't condone of low life's she meets,
But this was her tribe, she found her forever home,
Inside her mind opiates settled like crystalline stone,

Tortured by spiders no insecticide could kill,
They made webs on her body and bit her at will,
So scratching became a tick that gave cold comfort,
Leaving skin infections and hallucinations triumphant,

Despite her tortured soul she nursed a heart of gold,
Some street side saw this as weakness and acted bold,
But Pam was no pushover she had a warrior spirit,
Get too close for her liking and she slashes incoherent,

A box cutter her only self defence utility,
Helps keep order among those without civility,
Tent city a dangerous community to say the least,
Tests all comers in its embrace unleashing the beast,

Pamela however was a senior citizen in this encampment,
A forty year vet of concrete jungles disenchantment,
She and her compatriots deserve so much more,
Unfortunately those with power to help are rotten to the core.
