Yuri turned to Seungcheol, her voice tentative, "Scou—"
Before she could finish, Seungcheol pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her tightly. His face nuzzled into her neck as he breathed in her scent, and he murmured softly, "Call me Cheol."
Yuri hesitated, then whispered, "Cheol."
He shifted slightly, his tone growing firmer. "You know... no one ever dares to interrupt me like that."
Yuri lowered her head, suddenly feeling nervous as his voice sounded a bit sharp. "The meeting wasn’t over, you know," he added.
She looked up at him, stammering slightly, "Sorry, I thought—"
"Shhh..." Seungcheol cut her off, his hand gently tilting her chin upward. "If you said it’s over, then it’s over. Who am I to ignore your words, mi reina?" His tone softened as he snuggled closer to her, pressing his forehead against her temple.
Yuri, though, didn’t let it go. "You shouldn’t have shouted at Dino like that," she said softly, her hand resting on his chest.
Seungcheol raised an eyebrow, taken aback by her words. "What?"
"You shouldn’t have shouted at Dino like that," she repeated, more firmly this time. "I know you don’t like mistakes in your work, but you should’ve talked to him calmly."
"I’ve been talking calmly for the past three months," Seungcheol grumbled. "He’s not understanding."
Yuri held his gaze, unyielding. "So? I know you’re his leader, but you’re his elder brother too."
Seungcheol just stared at her for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, a small smirk played on his lips. "You’re getting too straightforward, my dear cat," he teased, his hand gently brushing her hair back.
"And you need to be more patient, Cheol," she replied, her eyes soft but determined.
Seungcheol sighed, his voice softening. "You make me do things I don’t want to," he muttered, the tension slowly melting away.
Yuri just gave him a small smile, her hand resting on his arm. "Let’s eat something. Come on," she encouraged gently.
As Yuri and Seungcheol approached the dining area, faint voices drifted toward them, stopping Yuri in her tracks. She paused. Behind her, Seungcheol also came to a halt, his brows furrowing as the voices became clearer. They weren’t just conversations—they were accusations, heated arguments laced with bitterness and resentment.
“…She thinks she’s so special, like she’s better than all of us,” Jennie’s voice rang out, sharp with jealousy. “jisoo unnie was this close to marrying scoups, but of course, Yuri had to ruin everything. He’s been different ever since she came into the picture. He doesn’t even look at her anymore!”
Yuri’s breath caught in her throat, her heart pounding as she took in the venom behind Jennie’s words. She had never thought she’d become the source of so much hatred.
“And Sana?” Another voice, low and angry, chimed in—it was Nayeon. “Do you know what she had to go through because of Yuri? She was pregnant with Wonwoo’s child, but he refused to even acknowledge it because Yuri came. She had to abort the baby… can you even imagine? And all because Wonwoo didn’t want to settle down, didn’t want anyone but Yuri to see him as anything less than perfect.”
Yuri froze, her blood turning cold. She glanced back at Seungcheol, who looked at her coldly, his face pale. His eyes flickered with a storm of emotions, but he didn’t say anything, didn’t move.
