Unspoken Attachments
Tunde lay on his bed, the house unusually quiet. Sam hadn't come home that night, leaving only him and Adeola in the house. He glanced at the clock, wondering where Sam was, but his thoughts drifted to the conversation he knew he had to have with Adeola. He could sense that she wasn't happy with the way he had shunned her earlier in the day.
With a sigh, Tunde got up and walked to Adeola's room. He knocked lightly before opening the door to find her lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling, doing absolutely nothing. She didn't look at him as he entered, but he could feel the tension in the air. "Adeola, I'm sorry," Tunde began, standing at the door awkwardly. "You know I'm happy when I'm with you... I just don't want to do something I'll regret later." Adeola remained silent, not moving from her position on the bed. Tunde rubbed the back of his neck, feeling the weight of her lack of response. "Talk to me," he said, stepping closer to her. "What's going on? I don't like it when you're like this."After a long pause, Adeola finally spoke, her voice low but firm. "What are you so afraid of, Tunde? Have you moved on or not?"Tunde frowned, trying to explain himself. "I have moved on. It's just... I don't know, sometimes it feels like I'm cheating or something, even though I know I'm not. I only do those crazy things when I'm single. Right now, I'm trying to do the right thing, you know?"
Adeola's frustration became evident as she sat up on the bed, her eyes filled with anger. "So, you still think you're with Adaora? Is that what this is about?""No!" Tunde quickly defended himself. "Adaora isn't my girlfriend anymore, I swear. I'm just... it's complicated. I don't want to hurt anyone. I've moved on, but I don't want to mess things up."Adeola shook her head, her voice rising slightly. "Forget about it. I'm not your girlfriend, Tunde. We didn't go to school together, you didn't know me before, so it's fine. I'll just play along with your games."Tunde sighed deeply, feeling the weight of the conversation pressing down on him. "Okay, fine, yes, we went to high school together. I'm the Tunde you remember-the one who always lifted your spirits when the bullies came. But I'm just trying to avoid anything that will spoil what we have now. I didn't want you to get attached to me, that's why I pretended at first. I only wanted this to be a professional relationship between a CEO and his personal assistant."Adeola softened a bit, her expression less angry now. Tunde continued, "I really appreciate everything you've done for me. Your parents saved me from the challenges I faced at Spark Technologies, and you, you were there for me when I needed a lawyer. You saved me from that case. You've been amazing."
Adeola's heart swelled, her face blushing slightly at his words. She couldn't help but smile. "And what about my dresses?" she teased. "You always seem mesmerized by my sexy dresses. Are you just trying hard not to compliment me?"Tunde chuckled, shaking his head. "I only rate and evaluate my girlfriend's beauty. That's it.""You mean Adaora?" Adeola asked, raising an eyebrow."No," Tunde corrected. "Ada isn't my girlfriend anymore. But yes, when she was, and only my next girlfriend will get that privilege."Adeola fell silent at that, not wanting to push the subject any further. But deep down, she hoped that one day, Tunde would see her love for him and that they would be together. She believed it was only a matter of time before he would be hers. The conversation slowly settled, and the tension between them eased. They both headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner. Adeola tried to take charge. "I'll cook. You should sit in the living room and relax."But Tunde insisted, "No way. I like staying in the kitchen with my girl."Adeola's eyes lit up as she blushed. "Omg! So, I'm your girl?"Tunde quickly backtracked, feeling embarrassed. "No, no, it's a slip of the tongue. You're not my girl."Adeola smiled knowingly. "It's okay, Tunde. No need to be embarrassed."They worked together in the kitchen, teasing each other as they prepared the meal. Tunde joked that he was the better cook, while Adeola scoffed and told him not to even go there. The atmosphere was light, and they laughed as they playfully argued over who was the better chef.In the midst of their fun, Tunde suddenly brought up Sam. "Where do you think Sam is by now?"Adeola shrugged, a mischievous smile on her face. "He's 19, right? Let the boy enjoy himself. He's probably with one of my babes.""One of your babes?" Tunde raised an eyebrow."Yeah, you remember that girl I introduced him to? She likes younger guys. Maybe she's having fun with him right now," Adeola said with a wink.Tunde groaned in disgust. "God, don't talk about it anymore. I don't even want to think about what Sam's up to."
The next morning, Sam finally returned, and to everyone's surprise, he wasn't alone. The girl Adeola had mentioned was with him, and she greeted them with a smile, explaining that she was the reason Sam didn't come home the night before. "He was worried about his boss," she said to Adeola, but Adeola gave her a knowing wink. Adeola pulled her friend aside, teasing her quietly. "I feel bad for Sam now. I bet you harassed that little boy all night."
Her friend blushed and whispered back, "Lower your voice! This case is different. Sam isn't as innocent as you think. He's a bad guy in bed-completely dominant. He didn't respect me at all."They both burst into laughter, trying to contain their giggles as Tunde came downstairs to join them. Sam, already nervous, expected a scolding, but to his relief, Tunde didn't ask any questions about the previous night.
Meanwhile, Bam Bam was feeling lonely. The thought of Chidi not showing up bothered her, and she had canceled a lot of her plans just to see him. Frustrated, she sent Paul a message, asking about their hangout plans.Paul replied quickly. "Let's meet at my place. We'll do something fun."Bam Bam raised an eyebrow. "Like what? What kind of fun?"Paul kept things vague, his usual style. "You'll find out when you get here."Still at the hotel, Paul had just finished a wild night with two girls. He was looking for a way to leave discreetly, having already told Bam Bam he'd pick her up in the next ten minutes. He made an excuse, telling the girls he had an urgent meeting with his boss and would link up with them another time.
Before leaving, he exchanged contact information with both of them, planning to meet again under more convenient circumstances.
