The afternoon sun cast a warm glow over Spark Technologies as Tunde and Adaora immersed themselves in the intricate design of the user interface for the new payment system. The room was alive with the sound of keyboards clicking and the faint hum of the air conditioning. Tunde, dressed in a crisp white shirt and navy-blue trousers, leaned over his laptop, his brows furrowed in concentration. Adaora, seated beside him in a floral dress, her hair tied back in a neat bun, focused on perfecting the color scheme that would make their interface both attractive and user-friendly.
"How about this shade of blue for the buttons?" Adaora suggested, her voice soft yet confident.
Tunde glanced at her screen, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "It’s perfect. It’s modern but still has that touch of simplicity we need."
They worked in silence for a few moments, the only sounds being the soft tapping of keys and the occasional murmur of approval or suggestions. Despite the intensity of the task, there was a sense of harmony between them, a shared vision that made the hours fly by.
As they worked, Adaora's thoughts drifted to the upcoming Best Entrepreneur of the Year award. She desperately wanted Tunde to win it. He had poured his heart and soul into Spark Technologies, and this new payment system was a testament to his innovation and dedication. But a conversation with Chidi lingered in her mind. He had confided in her that he was the original winner of the NITA award, but Paystack had used underhanded methods to secure it instead. It was a revelation that had shaken her, but she chose not to mention it to Tunde, not wanting to taint Chidi's image or distract Tunde from his goals.
"Everything okay?" Tunde’s voice broke through her thoughts.
Adaora looked up, realizing she had been silent for too long. "Yeah, just thinking about how amazing this project is going to be."
Tunde grinned. "It’s going to change the game, I can feel it."
The day continued with Adaora taking the lead on organizing a surprise treat for the entire Spark Technologies team. It was the first time she had ever done something like this, and she wanted to show her appreciation for their hard work. She arranged for a catered lunch, bringing in trays of jollof rice, fried chicken, and assorted drinks. The office buzzed with excitement as the team gathered around to enjoy the meal.
"Omo, Madam Ada, you sabi spoil us o!" one of the developers exclaimed, raising his plastic cup of soda in a toast.
Adaora laughed, her heart swelling with joy at their happiness. "You all deserve it! You’ve been working so hard, and this is just a small way to say thank you."
Tunde watched her from across the room, his heart full of admiration. Adaora had a way of bringing light into any situation, and seeing her interact so warmly with his team made him fall for her even more.
As the evening approached, Adaora prepared to leave for the Island. The office had quieted down, and the sunset cast long shadows through the windows. Tunde walked her outside, his hand resting protectively on her lower back.
"Are you sure you’ll be okay boarding bus?" Tunde asked, concern lacing his voice.
Adaora smiled up at him, nodding. "I’ll be fine. It’s just a short distance, and besides, you have a company to run. I’ll see you later."
Tunde leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Get home safe, love. And thank you for today. You made everyone’s day, including mine."
With a final wave, Adaora stopped a keke, and she hop on. The road back to the Island was not really bad as she expected. As she as on her way she couldn’t help but replay the events of the day in her mind, feeling a sense of contentment. Tunde was building something incredible at Spark Technologies, and she was proud to stand by his side. But beneath that pride was a flicker of worry, the nagging thoughts of Chidi’s revelation and the upcoming award. She pushed them aside, focusing on the road ahead.
Tomorrow would be another day, another chance to support Tunde and help him achieve his dreams. For now, all she wanted was to get home, relax, and think about the future they were building together.
