(Season 2, Episode 4)
The following morning, Osamu received a distressing call from Oda. Gide had abducted the orphans dear to Oda and detonated a bomb in their van with them in it. My husband set out to meet with the red-haired individual, determined to persuade him not to pursue Gide by himself, given his emotional turmoil.
I waited for him in his office. Oda is Osamu's friend, so it's better that he went alone to talk to him. Bored out of my mind, I made a paper airplane, tossing it around the room. All of a sudden, my phone rang, leaving me to glance at the caller ID. Mori, ew. Reluctantly, I picked up the phone after it rang a few times.
"(Y/n), could you please come to my office real quick?" Mori asked.
"Sure, Boss."
-Mori's Office-
The Boss was seated in his chair, gazing out the window, as my husband stood beside him.
"Well, it looks like both of the Dazai's are here now," Mori chuckled.
He sure does love that line, doesn't he?
"Boss, I'd like to request permission to organize a gifted squad to save Odasaku," Osamu projected.
"Very well, permission granted," the black-haired man huffed. "But first, may I ask why you're doing this?"
"Even as we speak, he's out there all alone, fighting against Mimic at their headquarters." So, I guess he couldn't stop him. "If we do nothing, we will surely lose a valuable gifted agent."
"I understand what you're saying, but I very much doubt Oda has any intention of being saved by anyone," the Boss speculated. "I don't believe you disagree. Listen Dazai, as the leader here, I am both the pinnacle of this organization as well as its servant. For the sake of our survival, I must make whatever sacrifices, no matter the cost."
Mori held up a black document with a gold seal. No... that's what his meeting was about. Osamu and I were both astonished at the sight before us.
"Wait, that envelope..." I stuttered.
"I see," Osamu frowned, turning away as I followed. "I get it now."
"Where do you think you two are going?"
"To save Odasaku."
The two guards aimed their machine guns at us. I stepped in front of Osamu, knowing that my body had the ability to regenerate if I sustained any injuries.
"Our conversation isn't over yet." Mori bluntly stated from his throne-like chair. "Stay a while."
"I've been mulling things over for a while..." While Osamu was speaking, I turned to face the two men, positioning myself with my back towards the guards. "... the relationship between the Port Mafia, Mimic, and the Special Black Ops, or to be more precise, the Gifted Special Operations Division. It always felt like this conflict was being controlled by someone. Such a bold and intricate design could've only been attributed to your handy work. That black envelope there was your reward for that brilliant piece of engineering. No matter how powerful the Port Mafia may become, we will always exist with the weight of the Gifted Special Operations Division bearing down on us." Picking up the envelope, he opened it. "So, you made a deal to wipe Mimic off the map, and in return they agreed to issue this permit to you. Our organization would benefit immensely with this in your possession, a gifted business permit."
I couldn't believe it. Mori orchestrated this whole plan for who knows how long ago without anyone noticing until now. No wonder he's the boss.
"Boss, you were the one to help Mimic enter this country illegally," Osamu continued. "You invited them to Yokohama in order to prompt the Ministry's Gifted Operations Division to finally take action."
