TW: Mentions of Self-Harm
AN: I thought it'd be silly to write about a school dance, but what fun are they actually without drama. (Not this kinda drama though. But that's how my second homecoming went anyway... minus Dazai of course.)
-One Month Later-
I had no intention of missing Homecoming this year. It was a unique opportunity for all my friends to gather on one night, given our usually conflicting schedules. I even informed Mori a month in advance not to assign me any missions on this day. My request for no work that day would've came earlier, but for some reason my school liked to plan things late.
Osamu perched on the edge of my bed, securing his customary work tie, as I settled beside him, smoothing out my (h/c) tresses.
"What's that over there on your closet door?" My boyfriend asked, eyeing the giant plastic bag that was attached to a hanger.
"That's my homecoming dress," I excitedly grinned. "It's three days away!"
He tilted his head, his unbandaged eye glaring at me in confusion. "Homecoming, what's that?"
That's right, he doesn't go to school. Of course he doesn't know what that is.
"Basically, it's a semi-formal dance for all three grades," I explained. "There's another dance that's formal for just second and third years, called prom."
"Oh, so you're going? You never said anything to me."
"I wanted you to come with me, but I didn't think you'd want to."
"Looks like it's decided." Osamu rose to his feet, straightening his jacket. "I'm coming with you."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I don't want other guys to talk to you."
I'll take it!
-At Homecoming-
My friends all spammed me with questions in the group chat once I told them that my boyfriend was coming with me. Katsumi was a bit skeptical when I told her, but I know it will turn out alright.
The girl with red-and-white hair accompanied Osamu and me because she lived in the same apartment complex. She also made it clear to my boyfriend to treat me right and to not call her Bones.
My dress was (f/c), and Osamu's tie matched it, while Katsumi donned a white dress adorned with spiderweb patterns. The walk to the door had already taken a toll on my feet, since I was wearing a pair of heels that I hadn't broken in.
We anticipated being the earliest arrivals, yet Jin had surpassed us. He occupied the seat at the end, as Katsumi, Osamu, and I took our places along one side of the table.
Jin was one of Katsumi's friends that she met in junior high. I honestly don't remember how, but he ended up slithering his way into our friend group. I could tell that Osamu already didn't like him from the looks he gave him and the way that he had his arm around my shoulders.
Not long after, Kaho, Aurelia, Lew, and Aiko joined us.
Kaho shouted, getting up in my boyfriend's personal space. That was one thing that never changed about Kaho: she never understood the concept of other's boundaries. "Holy shit, you must be Dazai!"
"Nice to meet you." It was evident that his smile wasn't genuine. "You must be Kaho."
She squinted at him oddly for a moment, then stepped back and turned her gaze to me, watching as a took a sip of my (favorite drink). "(Y/n), I really didn't think you were into the school shooter type."
