-4 Years Later-

Osamu claimed that our break wouldn't last too long, but here we are, four years later. I thought that after we settled into the Armed Detective Agency, which we joined two years ago, he would allow things to go back to normal. I was wrong, so wrong.

I was truthful when I said I missed my life in the Port Mafia, but I wouldn't return anyway. Even now, I'd still follow Osamu to the end of the line. Making friends in the Agency wasn't too difficult, which made things easier for me. The doctor, Yosano Akiko, and I got along very well, considering our interests in medical practices and that we were the only two female ability users in the organization.

Why the hell does he keep doing this? Internally, I was panicking. During the middle of our assignment to locate a free-roaming tiger, Osamu decided to disappear to who knows where doing who knows what.

I fiddled with my fingers, as I looked up at the blonde man, who angrily stomped beside me. "Do you think he's okay?"

"Probably, he never succeeds in his attempts anyway." Kunikida attempted to calm himself down, but he still sounded pissed. "You should stop worrying, he'll be fine."

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Not that his words are putting me at ease. It's been nine years since I met Osamu. Nine years since I had to accept that this was the norm for him.

"THERE YOU ARE, YOU TROUBLESOME BLOCKHEAD!" Kunikida shouted, gaining my attention.

There the brunette stood, his messy hair and clothes drenched in water. Drowning... again? He was standing beside a disheveled boy with white hair who was equally soaked. I guess the boy thought he fell into the water by accident and decided to save him.

"Oh hey, you found me!" Osamu waved at us. "Nice work you two!"

"Nice work?! And who caused all this work you suicidal maniac?!" The man with glasses growled. "I've had enough of this! DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH YOU DISRUPT MY SCHEDULE WITH YOUR SHENANIGANS?!"

Really? He's worried about his schedule and not his co-worker's life?

"I just had a great idea." The brunette turned his attention back to the strange boy. "He's a colleague of mine from work, let's have him treat you to a meal."

"HEY, ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?" Kunikida's attempts to regain Osamu's attention failed, just making him look like an idiot screaming at nothing.

Although he was on the other side of the river, I saw the bandaged man's sincere smile. That look on his face. He really is trying hard to take after Oda, isn't he?

The pair on the opposite riverbank engaged in conversation, yet the distance prevented me from hearing their exchange.

Osamu then began to laugh, before raising his voice, so we could hear him properly. "So, a boy on the brink of starvation wants to eat tea on rice. Very well, let's have Kunikida treat you to thirty large bowls of it!"

"Don't you get all generous with my money, Dazai!" Kunikida hollered.

At least he's alive.

-At a Nearby Restaurant-

The boy taken in by Osamu was named Atsushi Nakajima. He eagerly devoured bowl after bowl of rice with tea, filling his stomach to the brim.

"You're unreliable and you're a fool, Dazai. Who says 'woah, that's a nice river' and then jumps into it in the middle of a job?! Now we're late, we'll have to revise our whole schedule!"
