(Season 1, Episode 2)

Today was my much-anticipated day off. I was content with the thought of sleeping in as long as I wished, but that was spoiled when my phone began to ring, interrupting my peaceful sleep.

"What?" I groggily answered.

"I know, you were sleeping," said Osamu's voice in a sweet tone from the other end of the line. "I'm sorry that I woke you up, but I really need your help."

I held my phone to my ear with my shoulder as I pulled up my (pants/skirt/shorts). "Are you okay?"

"No, this is painful," he groaned.

"What did you do?!" My heart began to race. I know that he never succeeds in his suicide attempts, but what if that changes today?

"I'm stuck in a barrel."

I genuinely had to stop what I was doing to comprehend what he had said. "Huh?"

"I heard of a way to kill yourself by snapping your back in an oil drum," the brunette explained. "This is plain torture. Oh, and I'm in front of the apartments where Atsushi lives."

"Hold on, I'll be there in ten minutes."

"Thanks, sleeping beauty."

I hung up the phone, rushing over to the apartments. That idiot is lucky that I still love him.

-At The Apartments-

"AHH!"

*Thunk*

What the hell was that? As soon as I saw Atsushi, I approached him.

"Hey, have you seen- never mind." I noticed the brunette on the ground, crawling out of the oil drum. Holding my hand out to him, he took it, letting me pull him to his feet. "Dumbass."

Osamu raised his arms, slightly bending over to the side as he stretched. "I'm glad to see you've come to my rescue, but it seems like Atsushi beat you to it."

Rather than responding, I simply shot him a disdainful glance. Countless times I asked him to stop, but not once did he listen to me. I just never understood why he never thought about the people who care about him. He averted his gaze, wearing an expression of guilt.

"That was painful." Osamu let out a sigh, as we all sat on the barrel. "I owe you a favor, Atsushi. Without your ingenious help, I would've eventually snapped in two at the waist. Such agony."

"Why didn't you call your other coworkers, couldn't they've helped you get out of the barrel?" Atsushi asked.

"He called me, but you beat me to it."

"Oh, I called them alright, I told them I was at death's door," the bandaged man pouted. "They didn't understand my predicament. They were all like 'well congratulations, you're finally doing it'."

"Supportive friends," the tiger boy sweat dropped.

"Geez, anyone gifted with supernatural powers isn't totally right in the head."

As I crossed my arms, I side-eyed the brunette. "Like you're one to talk."

Atsushi, who's eyes were focused on the ground, changed directions, looking at the ex-mafioso. "Dazai, everyone at the Armed Detective Agency- I mean the private investigators, they're all gifted with powers, right?"

"Right," he answered. "We're an armed force taking on enemies the police don't stand a chance against."

"Then I don't stand a chance at joining the Agency."
