-Two Months Later-

I was seated in Osamu's office, idly playing with my pocketknife. He had mentioned needing to fetch something from the records room, yet that was over an hour ago. Where the hell did he run off to now?

After the whole Dragon Head Incident, the Colonial died. With his death came much sorrow and an empty executive seat. Originally, Mori was going to host a contest to decide whether me or Osamu got it, but I wasn't too interested in the whole leadership thing. Though, I wasn't complaining when I was promoted to the position of Secondary Executive.

Osamu entered through the door, looking upset. In his hands, he held the records he had gone out to get, along with another envelope.

"Sorry about the wait, love." He leaned down to my level, leaving a quick peck on my lips. "Mori found me and assigned us a mission."

"He did?" I inquired. "What is it?"

Taking the seat next to me, he explained. "Someone is messing with the organ trafficking routes. Before the payment even had a chance to be given to our suppliers, the vehicle that they were housed in exploded. So far, three vehicles full of human organs have been lost to the flames."

I stood up, closing my knife and shoving it back into my pocket. "Where do we start?"

-The Scene of the Last Crime-

Osamu and I weren't alone this time. Now that I think about it, I don't recall ever working with any other gifteds other than Bones and my boyfriend, oh, and Chuuya that one time a few years ago. I wonder if Osamu had something to do with that. Nah, that's ridiculous!

Anyway, the Boss insisted on having a few extra men sent for our protection. Not that we really needed it. In front of us was a charred van. The top was completely gone, which led me to infer that it blew off during the initial explosion. Inside it wasn't too much different. Everything was incinerated, even the iced boxes that once held the organs.

I slowly circled the van, looking for any trace of what could've happened. That's when I saw a shiny object in the grass. Bending down to inspect it, it was a shiny silver color, and it was surprisingly soft. What would a piece of metal be doing over here?

I continued to search in the grass for something else. The only things I saw were the metal and an empty bottle of water. I picked up the piece of discarded plastic. People really need to learn how to use a trash can. I may be a criminal, but at least I have common decency for the environment.

Reaching the trash can, I paused, coming to a realization. Water, metal, explosion. Wait a minute... I learned this last year! Alkaline metals combust when exposed to H2O. That being said, this metal must be... I glanced back at the van, envisioning the explosion in my head. Since the van partially remained intact, it can't be francium (although I don't understand how someone would even obtain that). Cesium is liquid at room temperature, so the next most reactive would-be rubidium.

"Find something-"

"AH!"

I tumbled onto the grass, startled by Osamu. He regarded me with a hint of concern and extended his hand. Despite my hesitation, I accepted it.

As much as I didn't want to admit it, I became meeker throughout the course of our relationship, letting him do whatever he wanted. I never liked arguing with him either; that would just end up with him yelling at me. Bones told me that I shouldn't stay with someone who's abusive. He never hit me, so there's nothing wrong. Just because we have some one-sided arguments, doesn't mean that we're not still in love.

"Sorry, I didn't think I'd scare you."

"No, it's fine," I shakily breathed. "I think I found the cause of the explosion."

He took the piece of metal and the empty water bottle from my hands, examining it.

"This caused it?"

"I believe that metal is rubidium, which is one of the elements that explodes when it comes into contact with water."

Osamu offered a smile before softly pressing his lips against my forehead. "Good job, (Y/n). I actually found something too."

He grasped my hand and led me to the van, gesturing towards a partial hole in its side.

"See here? I believe that hole was cut, allowing the perpetrator to steal the organs and throw in the make-shift bomb. The explosion was set to make us think that the organs disintegrated in the fire, which would give us no reason to hunt them down."

"Well, we know how it happened, but we don't have any leads on where this person is," I sighed.

"Well, this individual seems to know a lot about chemistry," the brunette started. "So, why don't we go check out the laboratory?"

"Laboratory?"

"Ya know, the one that's in business with the Port Mafia."

I didn't know we had one of those.

-At The Lab-

A man in a white lab coat led the two of us down the hall of the giant building. From what Osamu told me, this laboratory specializes in many things. Anything science related would be found here: biological, chemical, anatomical, and more.

"You wanted to see something in the records room, correct?" The man inquired.

"Yes, I'd like to see the quantity of a certain metal this lab possesses." Osamu cut to the chase, flashing the scientist a nasty glare. "It's urgent."

"Oh okay, I'll get the file for you right away, sir." He departed, searching for the file we required.

My gaze made its way to the floor. What if the whole reason that this person stole the organs was for a good reason. Would it be right to punish them?

"Snap out of it, (Y/n)." Osamu harshly shook my shoulder as his stern words reached me. "Now is no time for letting your guard down."

"Sorry."

"Sorry won't help, next time you'll end up dead!" The scientist came back out, handing an orange file to my partner as he turned to face him. "Thanks." Turning back to me, he grabbed the sleeve of my jacket, whispering in my ear. "We'll discuss this when we get home!"

Silently, the boy with bandages withdrew the files, perusing them as we made our way to the car.

"Did you find it?" Once we were seated and the car doors closed, I asked with hesitation.

"Yeah, it looks like twenty grams of rubidium were taken out by Doctor Endo." He responded without making eye contact. Retrieving his flip phone, he punched in a number and brought the device to his ear. "Boss, I need you to send a kill squad to the lab. Dr. Endo is the one responsible for the loss of the organs." I assumed that Mori asked him 'why can't we do it,' because of my boyfriend's response. "I have a personal matter I need to take care of. Bye now."

He took my hand, making me flinch. His grip loosened, his hand gliding up my back to rest on my shoulder. Drawing me nearer, Osamu whispered into my ear.

"Don't think I'm going to let your mistake slide."
