Sarah's POV

Walking into the coffee shop, Sarah immediately spotted Izuko sitting by the window, head bent over her notebook, doodling away. That focused, slightly pouty look on Izuko's face was something Sarah never got tired of. In fact, it made her grin just thinking about the way Izuko could switch from serious to goofy in a second. Seeing her after all this time was... different. Maybe a little too different, because, well, just "friends" wasn't exactly what Sarah had in mind.

She walked over, letting her footsteps be loud enough to catch Izuko's attention. Just as expected, Izuko's head snapped up, her eyes widening for a moment before she tried to look casual. That reaction? Totally worth it.

Sliding into the seat across from her, Sarah couldn't help but tease. "Studying French, huh? Didn't know you were planning on sweeping someone off their feet in another language."

The way Izuko's cheeks went pink was enough to make Sarah's heart do a little flip. But she kept her cool, leaning in just a bit, because if there was one thing she loved, it was getting a reaction from Izuko.

Sarah's Thoughts: She's so cute when she's flustered, honestly. How did I go so long without this?

Sarah didn't miss a beat as they chatted. She kept the conversation flowing, adding in just enough flirtation to make Izuko blush and stammer. It was the game they'd played for years, but now it felt... riskier. And, maybe, even more fun. She wanted to see just how far she could push Izuko, and maybe—just maybe—find out if those feelings she'd been ignoring were mutual.

Sarah at the Counter – Trying to Keep Cool

While waiting for her coffee, Sarah glanced back over her shoulder to see Izuko looking down at her phone, probably reading the group chat. She felt her phone buzz with notifications and smirked, knowing it was the crew hyping up her little study date with Izuko.

Sarah's Thoughts: If they only knew...

Back at the table, she leaned forward, noticing Izuko's tiny side glances at her and the way her lips pressed together when she tried to keep a straight face. This was too good to pass up.

"So... I heard you've been telling everyone you missed me as your bestie," she said with a teasing grin. "Just bestie stuff, or is there something else you've been holding back?"

Izuko practically choked on her coffee. "That was not how I said it!" She shot Sarah a fierce look, but there was that smile again, the one that always tugged at her lips when she got flustered.

Sarah leaned back, feeling a little too pleased with herself. She loved how easy it was to get Izuko riled up, loved the banter that always followed. But there was more to it. Seeing her like this made Sarah feel like they were picking up right where they'd left off. Only now, there was this extra... thing between them.

The Walk in the Park – Trying to Act Casual

As they strolled through the park, Sarah kept her hands shoved in her pockets, fighting the urge to reach out and grab Izuko's hand. They were best friends again, yeah, but there was that thrill underneath, the kind she didn't feel with anyone else.

Sarah's Thoughts: She has no idea, does she? Or maybe she does. Maybe she feels it too?

Sarah cracked a joke about "teaching" Izuko some French, leaning in close, savoring the way Izuko laughed and shook her head. They kept walking, and every so often, Izuko would glance up at her, giving her that look—half-curious, half-sassy—that made Sarah's heart skip.

They reached the edge of the park, and Sarah stopped, suddenly feeling the weight of the moment. She wanted to say something, anything, but kept herself in check. She'd been bold, yeah, but the thought of actually confessing? That was another story.

"Alright, so French lessons or not, maybe we should hang out more," Sarah said casually, hoping she didn't sound too eager. "Just like old times."

Izuko grinned up at her, and there was that spark again, the one that made Sarah feel like they were more than friends. "Only if you're ready for some competition. I don't go easy on my study buddies."

Sarah's Thoughts: Oh, I am so ready for this.
