Izuko's POV
After the energetic game of tag, Izuko and her friends eventually made their way back to the library. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow through the windows, and she felt a comforting sense of contentment wash over her. But before diving back into homework, she needed to talk to Nya.
"Hey, Nya!" Izuko called as she spotted her best friend leaning against a shelf, scrolling through her phone.
Nya looked up, a wide grin spreading across her face. "What's up, Izu? You look like you're about to explode with excitement!"
Izuko laughed, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Can you keep a secret?"
"Always! Spill it!" Nya said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"So, you know how Sarah and I went on that picnic?" Izuko began, her voice dropping to a whisper as if the library could eavesdrop.
Nya nodded, leaning in closer. "Of course! The one where you guys totally flirted like pros?"
Izuko rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile. "Okay, maybe there was a little flirting... but now it's like, I don't even know what we are!"
"Well, it sounds like you're definitely not 'just friends' anymore," Nya teased, nudging Izuko with her elbow.
"You think so?" Izuko asked, feeling her cheeks heat up. "I'm still trying to figure out my feelings. It's all so new and... intense."
Nya waved her hand dismissively. "Girl, you have nothing to worry about! Just be yourself around her. You guys have this amazing chemistry! Plus, I'm here for you no matter what."
Izuko smiled, feeling grateful for Nya's unwavering support. "Thanks, Nya. You always know how to make me feel better."
Nya leaned back against the shelf, a mischievous look on her face. "So, any plans for the movie night? I heard rom-coms make the best pillow forts!"
"Right?! I can't wait to see how many times we'll cringe at the cheesy moments," Izuko laughed, picturing their previous movie nights filled with laughter and popcorn fights.
Nya's expression turned serious for a moment. "But I think you should tell Sarah how you feel. You guys are cute together."
Izuko's heart raced. "I don't know, Nya. What if she doesn't feel the same way?"
"Then you'll know! And trust me, keeping it inside will drive you crazy." Nya replied, her voice softening. "But until then, let's just enjoy being besties!"
Izuko nodded, appreciating Nya's perspective. "You're right! Let's plan something fun for tonight, like a mini spa session at my place."
Nya's eyes lit up. "Ooh, I love it! Face masks, snacks, and gossip galore!"
"Exactly!" Izuko agreed, feeling a surge of excitement.
Nya's POV
As they began to gather their things to leave, Nya couldn't help but feel grateful for her friendship with Izuko. There was something special about their bond that made every moment together feel like an adventure.
"So, about that spa night—should we invite the others?" Nya asked casually, grabbing her backpack.
Izuko paused, contemplating. "Hmm, maybe just us for now? I kinda want some girl time to talk about everything."
Nya smirked, appreciating Izuko's insight. "I get it. Sometimes it's nice to have those deep chats without anyone else interrupting. You can always text them later!"
As they walked out of the library, Nya noticed how the cool air felt refreshing against her skin. "You know, it's almost like you have this glow around you lately," she said, nudging Izuko playfully. "Is it the love vibes or just my fabulous friendship?"
Izuko chuckled, nudging her back. "Definitely the love vibes. It's like I'm on a rollercoaster of feelings!"
"Well, just remember, I'm your safety harness," Nya joked, throwing an arm around Izuko's shoulders. "And if you ever feel like you're going to fall off, I'll be there to catch you."
"Thanks, Nya. You're the best!" Izuko replied, feeling a rush of gratitude.
As they walked home, sharing stories and laughter, Izuko felt lighter. With Nya by her side, everything felt a little less daunting, and she knew that whatever happened with Sarah, she had a best friend who would always have her back.
