Hyunjin had an overwhelming fear of needles, and that much was obvious with his band mates. Luckily- none of their fans had caught on to his fear because there was no need for anyone to approach him on stage or in a SKZ code episode with a needle.
So it remained a well guarded secret between their group and their managers.
And they all forgot about it until the beginning of winter rolled around and they were all due for their flu shots. Luckily, the other vaccines they were obligated to receive were every other year while the flu shots were every winter.
And when Hyunjin got his schedule for the week to see that all eight of them were slotted to take turns getting their shots Friday morning, anxiety settled in his gut, sinking down like an anchor in a turbulent sea.
He spent the entire rest of the week walking on eggshells around the others. They didn't have a crazy busy week since they were between comebacks, but Hyunjin would have preferred to be busy rather than actually having time to think about things.
Because the more he thought, the sicker he felt.
"Hey man, are you alright?" Changbin asked him the day before, when he was staring down at the dinner that Minho had made for all of them.
"I'm fine," he replied, voice sounding devoid even to himself. "Just not too hungry."
Minho narrowed his cat-like eyes as he watched Hyunjin toy with the chopsticks. "You aren't hungry."
Hyunjin avoided his eyes, slightly guilty. "...no?"
Chan looked perplexed, "are you feeling okay?"
In all honesty, he wasn't in the slightest, but he just nodded anyway.
The movement made him want to throw up, so he stood- his chair sliding back against the floor- as he bowed politely at Minho. "Thank you for the food, but I'm tired, I need to get some sleep."
He left the room with little fanfare, the others watching his back as he disappeared down the hallway.
"He's acting weird," Seungmin pointed out, pretty unhelpfully because all of them had noticed as much the second Minho called him out.
"No shit," Jeongin said, mouth full of rice. Minho shot him a nasty look and pressed a napkin over his mouth to get him to stop talking with his mouth full.
"I don't think he's sick," Jisung commented, the others looking at him in question as he thoughtfully chewed on his food. His cheeks were stuffed like a chipmunk, but they deflated when he swallowed his food. "I think he's anxious."
"Anxious?" Changbin questioned, "is Hyunjin known to have anxiety?"
"As far as I know, no, but I've noticed the way he's been acting the past couple of days. He always bites his bottom lip when he's nervous, and he's been doing it a lot more recently."
The table was silent for a few moments, Chan searching through his phone in a very uncharacteristic way because he never checked it at the table. He made a small noise of surprise, and then turned the phone screen for the rest of the group to see. "Do you guys see what tomorrow is?"
Jeongin's slanted eyes widened comically and Felix gasped from next to him- in a way that would have been dramatic if the others didn't share the same sentiment.
"Tomorrow morning we get our flu shots."

It was always hard to wake Hyunjin up in the morning. He was the heaviest sleeper out of them and enjoyed resting the most, falling asleep in random places until someone finally forced him awake.
