Feeding was usually always a safe thing. But sometimes, of course, things didn't quite go according to plan. To Hyunjin, after a year of his proud job as a vampire sugar baby- there were really only two particular times that actually spoke to him as 'dangerous.' Even if he himself didn't particularly mind because he had little to no self preservation while the others were overly worried.
Hyunjin had ended up showing his art off to them after a long enough time of knowing them; of knowing their genuine curiosity to see it rather than ridicule it like his asshole professor had in college. Of course, Hyunjin had an art Instagram that they actively could have seeked out- but they didn't even try with the excuse of 'that's a breach of trust' and it warmed Hyunjin's heart a little.
After he submitted his entry into the 'CHILL' exhibit and finally got a resounding acceptance from the gallery, Hyunjin thought he had hallucinated at first. He crumbled the letter to his chest, toed on his shoes, and excitedly ran all the way to the estate at the side of the hill. He furiously beat on the door, breathless, until Jisung answered questioningly. He must have been playing video games.
"Hyunjin?" He asked, worried as soon as he caught sight of him bending over to catch his breath. Even with his exhaustion, Hyunjin simply could not stop the smile as he laughed breathlessly and jumped right into a very surprised Jisung's arms. By this time, the other residents not at work collected at the door to watch on curiously.
Effected by Hyunjin's giddiness, Jisung laughed himself as he patted Hyunjin's back. If he were a mere human, he wouldn't have been able to pick up Hyunjin's taller figure to swing in the air, but he did so anyway, circling as Hyunjin laughed and laughed some more.
"What's this about?" Chan asked, watching on with an amused arch to his eyebrow. Hyunjin squirmed out of Chan's grip to shove the crumbled letter to his chest, bouncing from foot to foot as Chan unfolded it to read it. Changbin leaned over his shoulder to get a good glimpse at the 'ACCEPTED' stamp at the bottom of it, along with the gallery manager's signature. 3RACHA must have been working from home today.
Their faces quickly lit up and they pulled Hyunjin into their own hugs, their excitement palpable through the dark halls of the estate. It was nice, having people to share a victory with. People who actually understood just how hard Hyunjin worked on his art- because his pieces were his children- and they got denied time and time again.
"This is huge!" Changbin clapped Hyunjin on the back, once it was his turn for a bone crushing hug. "We have to do something to celebrate! Let's get a big dinner with steak!" Always a sucker for meat, even if it wasn't human blood. He had an insatiable appetite, and only repulsed human food when the vampire side of him was hungry for actual blood.
And how could Hyunjin possibly say no to that?
He playfully put a palm flat on Changbin's toned chest to press down with a smirk. "You're paying."
Changbin grew red, even if he had seen Hyunjin in various differing situations of undress and vulnerability by now. "Yah! We always pay!"
So that night, Hyunjin found himself in the corner of a small little grill restaurant, happily squeezed between Chan and Minho as they all discussed what they wanted to order. There was too much on the menu for Hyunjin to keep up with, so he settled with allowing Chan to order one of everything for the special occasion. He loved how they treated him like some asset even if he was just a money pit for their group- though they never saw him as a burden like that. They liked to spoil him as much as possible with more personalized gifts rather than just money.
