It had been an entire two months since Hyunjin started his proud endeavor as a vampire sugar baby.

It was a lot more work than he would have ever expected, but he didn't mind because he genuinely ended up quite satisfied in the end. They took him out with them on dates (only before sucking his blood dry) and oftentimes invited him over just for the sake of it without needing to use him as a blood bag. At first, Hyunjin just thought that they were being nice and indulging in his curiosity of vampires- but after a while he discovered that they just enjoyed his company.

He didn't dare tell Ajax though- absolutely not because he would just be a smug bastard about it and ask if he was having any hot steamy vampire sex. (Which, he was getting there. Eventually. They were all attractive and Hyunjin was just a weak, weak man with leather pants. He wasn't afraid, and he knew how to use them.)

The clan all had their special charms- and Hyunjin never complained when they pulled him out of his art cave to go and do something before he could slowly rot away. Hell, Minho even made him home cooked meals to take home as leftovers without treating Hyunjin like he was an embarrassing college student begging for seconds. At least, this way, Hyunjin knew at least seven people in the new town that he had moved into- considering that he had, like, a total of three friends other than them, and said friends lived hours away. (Maybe two friends, because Ajax was more of a pain in his ass than a friend.)

Friends aside, Hyunjin got a lot of money out of it too. The money allowed for him to hustle less on his art because now he actually had a stable allowance other than his commissions and the many art gallery submissions. Even if they denied him every time. His job as a sugar baby, was ironically, more stable than his job as an artist that he had an entire degree for.

Which was why he needed to up his game.

Hyunjin hummed under his breath to himself along to the cracky art stores speakers. It was a song that he distantly recognized- one that Chan had proudly showed him by a new boy group that they composed for. It sounded good and catchy. Catchy enough to play over some indie stores speakers. When one played your song over the speakers of a badass alt store in the city, you knew that you truly made it. Hyunjin would need to tell Chan later.

In front of him, the paints were sequestered between walls of glass, locked away because these were the expensive types of acrylics. The kind that shimmered and shone on the canvas even with low lighting. Sure, Hyunjin could always just mix his normal paints to create the fresh cerulean color that he was searching for- he didn't go to college for nothing, after all- but sometimes there were some things that you simply couldn't imitate.

Hyunjin rhythmically tapped on the glass in front of him as the song came to an end with a modulating Picardy third. Nice. It took him another five minutes of standing in front of the glass and inspecting the blue colored paint like a child watching a puppy through the window of the pet shop, before deciding it was fine to splurge and spend his well earned sugar baby money.

"Excuse me, ma'am? Can you unlock this?" He caught the attention of the employee at the desk who had been side eyeing him the entire time. She probably thought that he was trying to steal, why the paints were locked away in the first place. In college, Hyunjin had been tempted to shoplift a few times- he was desperate but not desperate enough to have charges pressed against him.
