8. Humiliation.

Siya woke up, her head throbbing slightly from the previous night's festivities. As she sat up in bed, the events of last night flashed vividly in her mind.

Her cheeks flushed red as she recalled the kiss—Shubman kissed her. He kissed her!

"No, no, no," she whispered to herself, her heart racing. She couldn't let him know that she remembered their kiss. The memory was too precious, too overwhelming to confront just yet.

She quickly freshened up, hoping the cool water would calm her nerves. As she stepped out of her room, she nearly bumped into Shubman, who was waiting in the hallway, a knowing smile on his face.

"Good morning, Siya," he greeted, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "How are you feeling?"

Siya's pulse quickened. "Uh, good morning, Shubman. I'm fine, just a bit of a headache," she replied, trying to sound casual.

He leaned in slightly, studying her face. "Do you remember anything from last night?"

Her eyes widened slightly, and she quickly looked away. "Um, not really.
It’s all a bit hazy," she lied, trying to keep her voice steady. "You know how it is with these late-night parties."

Shubman chuckled, clearly not convinced. "Is that so? Nothing at all? Not even a... special moment by the pool?"

Siya felt her cheeks heat up again. "Nope, nothing," she said quickly, stepping past him. "I really need to get some breakfast."

As she hurried down the hallway, Shubman followed, a smirk playing on his lips. "Siya, are you sure? Because it seemed pretty memorable to me."

Her heart pounded as she tried to keep her composure. "I really don’t know what you’re talking about, Shubman," she insisted, quickening her pace. "Maybe you’re confusing me with someone else."

He laughed softly, keeping stride with her. "Siya, you’re a terrible liar. Your cheeks turn bright red whenever you fib."

She stopped abruptly, turning to face him. "I am not lying!" she protested, her voice higher than usual. "And I am not blushing!"

He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Sure, sure. Whatever you say, Siya."
She resumed walking, her mind racing. She needed to get away before she completely lost her cool. "I’m serious, Shubman. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to find Samiksha."

Just as she turned a corner, she heard his voice again, closer this time. "Siya, running away isn’t going to change anything. We should talk about
it."

She spun around, her eyes meeting his. "There’s nothing to talk about, Shubman. Nothing happened," she insisted, her voice wavering.

He stepped closer, his gaze softening. "You’re only fooling yourself, Siya. I know you remember."
