27. Meeting New People.

Siya stretched her body lazily as she woke up, feeling the warmth of the duvet wrapped around her like a cocoon. She blinked her eyes open, looking around the room, but Abhishek was nowhere to be seen. A pout formed on her lips.

Just then, the door opened, and Siya instinctively hid herself under the duvet, her heart racing. How did someone get a key card to his hotel room? She heard a familiar chuckle.

“Hey, it’s me. Good morning.”

Peeking out from under the covers, she saw Abhishek standing there, a playful grin on his face. He was holding a small paper bag.

“You scared me!” she said, still half-hidden.

Abhishek laughed, walking over to the bed. “Sorry, Chintu. I didn’t mean to. I went out to get you something.”

“What’s in the bag?” she asked, sitting up and letting the duvet fall away.

He sat down beside her, holding out the bag. “I got you those contraceptive pills, like I promised.”

She, smiled. “You’re a lifesaver, Abhishek.”

He winked at her. “Anything for you.”

She blushed, playfully hitting his arm. “Stop it! I’m already embarrassed enough.”

Abhishek poured her a glass of water and took out the pills, handing them to her with a mischievous smile. “We’re killing my precious children, we are,” he joked, his eyes twinkling with humor.

Siya pretended to look horrified, dramatically placing a hand over her heart. “Ab main tumhare baccho ki maa nahi ban sakti, Abhishek!” she exclaimed, faking seriousness.

He laughed, shaking his head. “Oh, the drama! But seriously, take the pills, Chintu.”

She took the pills and the water, still grinning. “You’re such a goof, Abhi. But I guess that’s why I love you.”

“Damn right,” he said, winking at her. “Now, drink up.”

She swallowed the pills, then set the glass down on the bedside table. “You know, I should probably get back to my room before Mihir starts his morning interrogation. He’s worse than a detective.”

Abhishek sighed, pulling her into a hug. “I know, I know. But I wish you could stay longer.”

She hugged him back, resting her head on his shoulder. “I wish I could too. But I don’t want to risk him finding out like this. It’s better if we tell him ourselves, on our own terms.”

He nodded, reluctantly letting her go. “You’re right. But promise me we’ll see each other again soon?”

She smiled up at him. “Of course, Abhi. You won’t be able to get rid of me that easily.”
