《《 One week later 》》
Siya was at the hospital, taking a much-needed break after hours of counseling patients. She back in her chair, rubbing her temples to ease the tension.
"Please, no visitors for the next ten minutes," she told the receptionist, her voice firm yet weary.
The receptionist nodded understandingly. "Of course, Dr. Kapoor. I'll make sure you're not disturbed."
Siya sighed in relief, grateful for a few moments of peace. She closed her eyes, letting the silence wash over her. The weight of the past few days, combined with the emotional toll of her work, felt heavy on her shoulders.
She pulled out her phone, contemplating whether to check her messages but decided against it. Right now, she just needed a moment to breathe.
"Dr. Kapoor, I'm sorry to disturb you, but someone is here and insists it's extremely important to meet you," the receptionist said, sounding hesitant.
Siya sighed, her brief moment of peace interrupted. "Who is it?" she asked, trying to keep the irritation out of her voice.
"Their face is hidden due to a mask, Doctor," the receptionist replied apologetically.
Siya rubbed her temples and took a deep breath. "Fine, let them in," she said, resigned. She quickly got her counseling materials ready and took a sip of water to steady herself.
The figure removed his mask, revealing a familiar face. Siya's eyes widened in surprise.
"Abhishek? What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice a mix of shock and confusion.
"Bhai, ek toh main Amritsar se itni door Chandigarh tak aaya aur tum seedha sawal puch rahi ho. Aisa nahi ki chai paani puch le," Abhishek said.
Siya couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, what will you have? Chai, coffee?" she offered, shaking her head at his antics.
"Some coffee, and it would be lovely if I can get some cookies to munch on," he said shamelessly, making himself comfortable in the chair opposite her.
Siya pressed the intercom. "Can we get some coffee and cookies in my office, please?" she requested, then turned back to Abhishek. "So, what brings you here? This isn't about Shubman or anyone, right?"
Abhishek shook his head. "Nope, I just wanted to see you. It's been a while since we caught up, and I figured a surprise visit would be fun."
Siya smiled warmly. "It's good to see you too, Abhishek. How have you been?"
He shrugged casually. "Busy with cricket, as usual. But enough about me. How are you holding up?"
Siya sighed, leaning back in her chair. "It's been...a lot, honestly. But I'm managing."
