Chapter 48

NATALIA'S POV

"Thank you all for attending this important meeting. As you are all aware, we are facing significant challenges with Grayson in the hospital and unable to fulfill his duties as the CEO especially now we are working with a very big project. Our luxury hotel and resort project is facing delays, and we need to take immediate action." the Chairman of the Board said which is Dad.

Axel had an accident a few weeks ago and our company is facing some problems because of the CEO's absence. Kababalik ko lang dito sa Pilipinas kahapon after almost 5 years of being away because Dad called me to go home. He wants me to be present in this meeting.

Flashback

"Can you come back here to the Philippines, anak? We have a problem at the company because of Axel's absence. We need to have a meeting as soon as possible, and I want you to be here. Besides, you are part of the board, right? It's now your time to go back and fulfill your duty. I have already given you enough time, and I think that's already enough. We need you here." marahan niyang sabi.

He's right. I'm part of the board, and ever since I left, I haven't been able to attend meetings, and I'm not even updated on what's happening because I cut my connections with everyone in the Philippines. I only have connections with my family and Andrea.

I know it looks unfair to the other board members, but since it's our family's company, they don't have much choice, and Dad allows me because he knows I wasn't okay during that time.

'Yeah, its almost five years naman na. I think its time to go back.'

"It's clear that without a CEO, we are in a precarious position. Our partner company has been working hard on this project, but they can't carry this alone." one board member said.

"We need to appoint someone who can step in right away as temporary CEO to fulfill Grayson's duties until he is able to return." Dad added.

"But who can step in at this critical time?" Mom asked, as she is also part of the board.

"I propose we appoint Natalia as the temporary CEO." Another board member said.

My brows furrowed. "Wait, what?" I reacted.

"I understand this is unexpected, but your experience as the former CEO makes you the ideal candidate to lead us through this transition. We need someone who can act quickly and effectively." the board member added.

"I agree." one board member said.

I also saw the others nodding and whispering to each other.

"You have the trust of the team and the board, Natalia. This is an opportunity to guide the company during a challenging time." another board member said.

"You know the company inside and out. This is about ensuring stability while we wait for Grayson's recovery." Mom said.

"All in favor of appointing Natalia as temporary CEO?" Dad asked.

All of the board members raised their hands to vote.

'They all want me. I don't have a choice.'

"The motion passes. Congratulations, Natalia." Dad said and all of them clapped.

'It's fine. I've been away for years. This will just be my way of making up for it.'

"Now that we already have a temporary CEO, Natalia, you need to start working as soon as possible. Our partner company is waiting for when the meeting will continue to discuss the revised floor plan of the project that was canceled because of the accident." Dad said.
