Chapter Twenty Four
"Chloe, wake up." A muffled voice whispered, their breath touching my ear.
"mmm.." I moaned opening my eyes.
"We have ten minutes before we need to preform so come on." It was Josh. He gave me a quick kiss before I walked back into the changing rooms so I can have my hair sorted out again since it was like sleep hair.
"Have you and Josh just had sex?" Was the first thing I heard when I walked through the door. Of course, it came from Brooke.
"No, I fell asleep. I am so tired." I whined. I plopped myself down into the chair in front of Mom and she restyled my hair.
"Do you want to pull the dance?"Abby asked.
"No, I want to do this." I strongly protested. If this.is the last time I preform I want to dance for as long as I possibly can before I have to be on bed rest every day for 4 months.
"Okay, Come on, we have five minutes." Abby said and ushered us all out of the door. Josh and I linked hands as we went backstage and everyone else went into the auditorium.
"Goodluck." Paige squealed kissing my cheek. Josh and I walked in and looked around at every other duet couple.
"Wow..." I breathed. The couples were very mature, they had long legs. We were doomed.
"Don't let their looks scare you Chlo, we have more chemistry." He whispered in my ear as we sat on a chair that was placed backstage. I nodded. Josh took of my shoes and massaged my feet. We had about one minute until we had to dance.
"Next up is, Chloe and Josh dancing to give me love." The announcer said.
He kissed me gently before I took my position on the stage. We did the dance three years ago at a showcase the ALDC was putting on to recruit new members.
This dance was a blur, I remember starting and then Josh coming on. The next thing I knew we were in a liplock at the end of the dance. We got a standing ovation from the whole auditorium including the judges. I made eye contact with one of the judges as I walked off.
I met Josh around back and he spun me around before bringing his lips down to mine.
"You were amazing." He said breathlessly. I smiled before the two of us went walking back to the dressing room so I could get ready for the last dance of the day.
I gave Josh a quick kiss before I ran into the room grabbing my clothes before changing into it. The others came running in squealing as I was reapplying mascara. They pulled me in to a group hug.
"You were so amazing." Mackenzie squealed.
"Thanks." I giggled before sitting back down so Mom could sort out my hair for the third time this competition.
I was wearing a two piece, a pair of booty shorts and a crop top with a sash attached to it.
"You look beautiful." My Mom said stroking my cheek smiling at me.
"I don't feel it, I feel fat." I whined.
"You don't look fat Chloe, I can't see anything. No ones going to notice until you tell them okay?" She whispered I nodded and she kissed my head. Me and the select team stood aside while the others did a quick rehearsal of their group. I felt a little bit of jealously run through my body as I thought about not ever preforming with these girls again.
Next, Abby made us rehearse our dance with me as the lead. I didn't put my passion into this dance because I'm dancing with strangers and not my family. It's like another world. I hate this, I need my family.
"Chloe, can I talk to you for a minute." Abby said as she sent the other girls away to do any last minute makeup or hair before we left to go and perform.
"What's wrong?" She asked. She had pulled me out side by Josh.
"What do you mean?" I asked, I was confused, I wasn't upset or anything, I was just jealous.
"You weren't dancing like you, You were dancing like...Brooke. Someone who don't want to be dancing." She explained. I looked at the floor wishing this conversation was over. I didn't like it.
"I just feel incomplete, I'm dancing for the last time in my life and it's not with my own team. It's was a strange team who I don't even know. I feel out of place with them." I confessed.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I just thought that if you carry on dancing after you have this baby then maybe you can come back onto your team.I just didn't realise you wanted to be a choreographer instead."She apologised. I shook her off.
"Yeah well, I'm gonna go back stage.I need some time alone before I tell everyone." I sighed. She nodded and I could feel her eyes following me as I walked down the corridor back stage.
I sat on the same chair I was on when Josh and I was backstage. I couldn't deal with all this stress. I couldn't deal with not having my family knowing what my life will turn into in about 5 months. I was so scared. I didn't know what they were going to do, I didn't know what was going to happen but I needed to tell them. It's better than them finding out on their own.
I sighed and ran my hands over my face. I heard the door open. I looked up to see Paige, Maddie Nia, Mackenzie and Brooke come rushing in with the select team following behind.
"Are you okay?" Mackenzie asked. They all looked so worried. Well. Except Maddie of course. I nodded.
"Yeah, lets just dance." I said standing up getting ready in the right wing for my cue.
"Next up entry number 754 The Abby Lee Dance Company with Take on me." The voice over the intercom said. I nodded at the girls in the left wing as am indication for them to go on stage.
They walked slowly onto the stage and into their position. I heard the music start and I was going to try and put my emotion on even though I'm not really feeling the dance. I waited for my cue which was like 15 seconds into the intro. I joined in and it felt like three hours of dancing before we were finally in our ending position. I just wanted this dance to end. It wasn't like I was having fun or anything.
Once the dance was over, they were all hugging happy that it went the way they wanted. I just stood in the wings watching my best friends dance together having so much fun. It was the best feeling to watch my best friend have the lead of the dance for once.Watching Paige be the featured dancer it made me want to be a choreographer because she is an amazing dancer and I want to help people with talent like those girls become a success.
Once they finished their dance they did the celebratory chant and hug before we waited for the awards. I was dreading this. Josh came up behind me hugging me and whispering sweet nothings into my ear.
"You did great baby." He whispered. I smiled and turned in his arms giving him a quick kiss before hearing Paige and Brooke making puking sounds behind us. I giggled.
We waited for the last dance group to preform before we all made our way to the stage for the award ceremony...
