The next couple of days passed slowly. While Aether ran to and fro, helping and befriending everyone he came across, Wu still found it hard to be around others, trying to find his place in this little system they had besides being a trump card for whatever monster showed its ugly face. A part of him still felt like rushing to subdue and purify Dvalin, but the others decided it would make more sense to recover and gather strength. Wu could sense Dvalin's broiling ki miles away, past a gorge in the mountains and wrapped in a massive, churning storm. At least he would sense if the Abyss made a move on the dragon.

Wu sighed.

There was no rush. Not anymore. He had no conceivable way of getting home, and he owed it to the people of Mondstadt to do good by them. That's what the folks back on earth would want him to do.

If only they didn't make it so hard.

"Error, you failed to include your home address on line 7 of the application." Katherine of the Adventurers Guild said in a monotone voice.

"That's because I'm FUCKING HOMELESS!!!" Wu screamed at the woman, who stood still as a statue and stared at him blankly. Ever since he had gotten here, he had been trying to fill out that stupid application to be an adventurer to earn some coin.

"Please enter a valid home address." Katherine said.

"I will disintegrate you...!" Wu said, a vein popping on his head as he clenched a fist.

"Please enter a valid home address." Katherine repeated.

"What the hell is wrong with you...!?" Wu asked, genuinely flabbergasted.

"For more options, please press 1." Katherine said.

"???"

"Yeesh, having trouble signing up?"

Wu turned, seeing a shorter, blonde young man, sporting very light clothing and a pair of oversized goggles on his head.

"For me, it took an entire month before she finally took mine." The kid chuckled.

...

Wu looked down, going back to scribbling on his application. The kid visibly deflated as Wu gave him the cold shoulder.

"Hey, it's cool... I was actually waiting on, like, five other folks..." He said, averting his gaze as he rubbed his arm.

Wu sighed, slamming the paper down in front of Katherine.

"Error. You failed to include the middle name of your mother on line 26." Katherine said.

"WHY IN THE FUCK IS THAT REQUIRED!?" Wu yelled.

"Here, allow me!"

Wu flinched as the kid suddenly stepped in, grabbing a pen and scribbling on his paper. Wu was about to send the kid on a flight to another city block, only for Katherine to take the paper.

"Application valid, pending registration." Katherine said, taking the paper into the booth she stood in.

"How did you...?" Wu asked.

"You just have to figure out how Katherine works. Besides, I'm used to things not going my way." The kid said cheerfully. "The name's Bennet!" He said, extending his gloved hand.

...

Wu awkwardly shook it.

"Strong grip...!" Bennet said with a smile, trying not to flinch as he felt Wu nearly crush his hand effortlessly. "Say, are you looking for an adventurer team to run with?" He finally gave his pitch. "Because I've been recruiting Mondstadt's best and brightest, and you look like a premier pick!" He said.
