Jean stood at her desk in the center of her office. Kaeya and Diluc were off to the side, the latter having his arm slung around the former's shoulder. Lisa leaned against a set of railings nearby, and Wu lied on the floor, clutching his crotch as he made incoherent noises of agony. Finally, Aether and Paimon were situated next to the door.
"Signora and all of her personal agents have disappeared from Mondstadt. All other Fatui diplomats at the Grand Goth Hotel are being questioned, but they claim total ignorance of her actions." Jean began. "Of course, the Anemo Gnosis has been taken, and Venti is currently at WIndrise healing." Jean said.
"Is it really wise letting our god out at a time like this?" Kaeya asked.
"The Fatui have what they wanted. If they wanted Venti dead, they would have taken the chance to finish him." She said. "On another note..." She turned to Diluc and Kaeya. "I understand that we could not have planned for this attack, but what were you two doing at Windrise? Who attacked you?" Jean asked.
...
"I believe Master Diluc can explain himself..." Kaeya said, turning to his injured ally.
Jean stared at Diluc, eager for an answer.
"I... I was dueling Son Wu. The Fatui must have seen their chance to attack then, and ambushed the Traveller and Venti at the Cathedral." Diluc said, looking down.
"Of course..." Jean sighed, closing her eyes. "Of course your need for personal vengeance left us open to being attacked." Jean said.
"He almost killed you...! He almost killed all of us!" Diluc tried to argue.
"You've only ever seen him for the wrong he's done, and never for the people he's helped!" Jean retorted.
"He can't be controlled...!" Diluc said.
"We are the nation of freedom, Diluc. No being, no matter how dangerous or despicable, will have that taken from them." Jean said. "...Now, what say you, Son Wu?" She turned down to Wu.
"MY FUCKING BALLS!!!"
Wu screamed, in far too much pain to have comprehended anything.

After the conclusion of the meeting, Aether and Paimon slowly went to Windrise, followed by a limping Wu. They approached the massive, half-shattered trunk of the great tree, slowly but surely regrowing its canopy of branches leaf by leaf.
"The wind amongst the brances is good... I love the way it smells..." Venti said, standing beneath the broken canopy, surrounded by a pillar of anemo energy. "It's a shame I only seem to visit here when I'm hurt..." He said.
"Venti..." Aether approached. "Signora... What did she take...?" He asked.
"Ah... So you noticed." Venti said, placing a hand on his chin. "This isn't something I'm supposed to discuss with ordinary people, but I suppose I can let you in on the secret..." Venti said. "As you know, visions are external magical foci that only a small minority of people posses. The use these visions to channel elemental power." Venti explained.
Wu sighed, sitting cross-legged nearby as Aether and Venti began to chat.
"In truth, every wielder of a Vision is one who can attain godhood and ascend to Celestia. We call such people allogenes." Venti explained.
"So they can just pick and choose their gods? And we needed a whole fucking ancient ritual..." Wu thought, closing his eyes and crossing his arms.
"Allogenes? Paimon's never heard of them before..." Paimon floated up from behind Aether.
"Hehe, that's because this is a secret that only The Archons are privy to. We don't need pimitive tools like Visions." Venti said. "Instead, each Archon has an internal magical focus that resonates directly with Celestia itself... known as a Gnosis." Venti said.
