Aether and Paimon walked back into Liyue Harbor, having just left the Wangshuu Inn of Guili Plains and the last of their emissary work with the Adepti.

"Alright, now we just have to find Childe!" Paimon chirped.

"...I want to speak with Cloud Retainer. And convince her to release Wu." Aether said.

"This again..." Paimon huffed. "Wu's good for nothing, and he's more trouble than he's worth!" Paimon huffed.

"That's enough, Paimon. You don't get it. Sure, he's a jerk most of the time, but when things get serious, he's always stepped up." Aether said sternly. "He saved my life in the fight against Dvalin, and I won't forget that." Aether said.

"How will you even get him back? That big bird seemed pretty stubborn from what we saw of her, and do you really think Wu could escape her?" Paimon asked.

Blink!

"Yo."

"GYAAAH!!!" Paimon shrieked as Wu teleported in front of them.

"Wu!?" Aether gasped, a hand on his chest.

"In the flesh..." Wu smirked with a playful shrug.

"H-How did you get out!?" Aether asked.

"They're actually pretty nice...Cloud Retainer recognized the threat whoever killed Rex Lapis is, and she also recognizes how strong I am, so she promised to train me to defend Liyue should this big bad ever show themself. And as a bonus, I got to know a pretty interesting lady..." Wu said, a sparkle in his eyes as he stared off, rubbing his chin.

"...The bird?" Paimon asked.

"No, the girl. You guys didn't notice her?" Wu chuckled.

"Oh, her! She was super quiet, and everything happened so fast we didn't get to be introduced..." Paimon murmered.

"What was she like?" Aether asked.

"Oh, she was awesome..." Wu murmered, a smirk growing on his lips.

"...Are... Are you okay?" Paimon asked.

"Huh? Oh, uh... Nevermind." Wu rubbed his nape, sighing as he fell into step with them. "Cloud Retainer's still trying to figure out what exactly she can teach me, so until then I'm able to work with you guys..." Aether said.

"So you're telling me that you're such a wildcard that actual divine beasts didn't know what to do with you?" Paimon asked skeptically, and Wu only chuckled.

"So, how was Xiao?" Wu asked.

"Wait, you know Xiao?" Aether asked.

"He approached me for a brief moment when we first passed through Guili Plains." Wu said.

"Well, we didn't get to meet him long, but he seemed pretty strong..." Aether said.

"I fucking love this nation..." Wu chuckled.

Team Three Star, untied once again, strode up the stairs of Northland Bank to inform Childe about their experiences with the Adepti.

"Are we sure we wanna keep talking to this guy?" Wu asked.

"We promised him. Besides, he seems nice enough..." Aether said.

Wu's mouse thinned into a tight line as they approached Childe, his eyebrows dropping at the feeling of this ma's ki.

"You've finally returned. How was your journey to Jueyun Karst?" Childe asked.

----------

"...I see." Chile said, having just been told by Aether of his and Paimon's adventures and Wu's misadventures, leaving out any details that Wu wanted to keep secret. Wu kept out of the conversation as Childe and Aether talked about the lore of the Adepti.
